Job Description
Job Description Upchurch is seeking an Estimator to develop accurate, data-driven cost estimates and proposals for professional, scientific, and technical service projects. In this role, you will analyze scopes of work, perform quantity takeoffs, evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes, and build detailed pricing models to support client-facing teams. You'll collaborate closely with consultants and project managers to validate assumptions, assess risks, and structure competitive bids. This position offers exposure to diverse projects, mentorship from senior experts, and clear opportunities for advancement in a collaborative, client-focused environment. Responsibilities Lead preparation of detailed cost estimates and proposals for professional, scientific, and technical service projects. Analyze project requirements, scope, and risks to develop accurate pricing structures and assumptions. Perform quantity takeoffs and cost breakdowns using estimating tools and historical data. Collaborate with consultants, project managers, and technical specialists to validate assumptions and refine estimates. Obtain, compare, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes to support competitive bids. Develop clear estimate summaries, pricing models, and written justifications for internal and client review. Support RFP/RFQ responses, including schedules of values, clarifications, and alternates. Participate in client meetings to explain estimates, answer questions, and support negotiations. Track estimate performance versus actuals to refine benchmarks and improve accuracy. Contribute to process improvements, templates, and best practices within the estimating function.
