Knife River is seeking an Estimator to support infrastructure and commercial construction projects. In this role, you'll perform detailed quantity takeoffs, prepare accurate cost estimates, analyze plans and specifications, and solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes. You'll collaborate closely with project managers and operations teams to develop competitive bids and proposals while ensuring alignment with Knife River's strong safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Review project plans, specifications, and addenda to define scope and estimating requirements Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment on civil and building projects Develop accurate cost estimates and proposals that align with company margin and schedule targets Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor and supplier quotes Collaborate with project managers and operations to refine means, methods, and production rates Assist in preparing bid packages, schedules, and supporting documentation for submissions Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and constructability reviews Ensure all estimates reflect Knife River's safety and quality standards Required Skills Construction estimating Quantity takeoffs Blueprint reading Cost analysis Bid preparation Estimating software Excel and MS Office Subcontractor quote evaluation Project scheduling basics Knowledge of DOT and municipal specifications
