This position offers something increasingly difficult to find in heavy civil construction: a four-day work week, primarily local projects, no routine overnight travel, and the opportunity to play a meaningful role in the projects we pursue and build. You will estimate public and private heavy civil projects ranging from approximately $500,000 to $15 million+ , including earthwork, underground utilities, paving, roadway construction, drainage, grading, and site development. Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic Heavy Civil Estimator Construction to join our team and drive the success of our large-scale infrastructure projects. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing project budgets, and collaborating closely with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. Your expertise will help ensure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards across all phases of construction estimation. Responsibilities Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately interpret project requirements. Develop detailed estimates for heavy civil projects including roads, bridges, utilities, and site development using estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam. Manage material cost estimating by analyzing blueprints to determine quantities and requirements. Prepare comprehensive bid proposals by pricing labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers and subcontractors to secure optimal terms. Monitor project budgets throughout the bidding process and during project execution to ensure cost control. Collaborate with project management teams to review construction plans, schedules, and technical documents for feasibility and accuracy. Qualifications Proven experience in managing projects as a construction estimator within the heavy civil or infrastructure sector. Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bid2Win, Agtek, Procore and construction management tools. Strong skills in blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and reviewing construction plans. Excellent negotiation abilities with vendors, subcontractors, and clients. Solid understanding of construction industry standards including contracts, project management principles, and cost control strategies. Ability to read spreadsheets effectively for estimating material requirements and project budgets. Construction site experience combined with a background in managing large-scale civil projects is highly preferred.
