SummaryUnder the direction of Estimating Manager, the Estimator estimates the cost and provides 3D modelling of a variety of SSI projects for different product lines, including steel platforms, gravity chutes and safety Lockers. This role supports the Sales team in the bidding process by determining the price of products/services for each project. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals and other documents to gain a thorough understanding of the project.
Prepares initial design and material estimate for projectsIdentifies the type of materials or equipment required to manufacture the productDetermines what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or productSupports Project Management, Engineering and other teams within the project work flow cycle, to meet the ongoing customer requests Provides preliminary estimates for planning purposes as well as detailed itemized estimates based on final plans and specificationsWorks with Key Account Sales Managers and customers supporting direct B2B sales and developing relationships with distributors and customers.
Creates customer specific, customized SSI solutions using standard components for different business linesLooks for creative ways to improve results and gain efficiencies.
Recommends product modifications or additions based upon research, technical service work, or sales feedback.
Occasional travel to customers sites is required dependent on business needs. QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or ExperienceAssociates degree in Design, Drafting, Engineering or related fieldTwo or more years of experience in B2B manufacturing sales/customer service/estimating/engineeringExperience working with distributor networks preferredKnowledge of the Material Handling industry is preferred Other Skills Understanding of engineering processes, familiarity with engineering information and data sourcesClear understanding of bills of material, drawings, design data, and design standards Ability to read and interpret complex specifications is requiredAbility to read, interpret, and analyze CAD files (2D and 3D modeling)Microsoft Office experience required (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) Ability to build rapport and relationships over the phone.
