The Mechanical Cost Estimator will work with the design and manufacturing staff to interpret specifications and drawings in several fields (Mechanical/Electrical engineering) to develop a proposal to be submitted to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Analysis:
- Evaluate drawings and specifications to identify all requested materials, labor, and equipment.
- Determine key variables that influence project costs, such as codes, material prices, and production times.
- Gather data on costs from suppliers and vendors.
- Use estimation programs and tools to prepare estimates.
Estimate Preparation:
- Develop detailed cost estimates for projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and other relevant costs.
- Prepare and submit proposals for projects.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to refine estimates and budgets.
- Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and bids.
Project Monitoring:
- Identify and address any cost overruns or deviations from the budget.
Job Requirements:
Education:
A.S. degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical system design, or related experience is a plus, but not required
Experience:
1+ years of experience with estimating Plumbing, and Electrical/Mechanical systems
CAD:
Experience with reviewing commercial engineering documents experience. Any CAD software exposure is a plus.
Communications:
Strong verbal and written communications skills are required. Any foreign language experience in a plus.
