In PersonPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil engineering and construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of civil construction estimating experience and strong knowledge of cement, aggregates, ready-mix operations, piling, material handling, and construction logistics across inland and marine environments.

This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to evaluate project scope, identify risks, and develop accurate lump-sum and unit-rate estimates.

Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Bid PreparationReview blueprints, specifications, bid documents, and proposals to determine project scopePerform detailed quantity take-offsCalculate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costsPrepare lump-sum and unit-rate estimatesDevelop accurate and competitive project bidsReview estimates for completeness, accuracy, and scope coverageProject & Risk AnalysisIdentify high-risk areas within project bidsPerform cost analysis and risk assessmentsEvaluate project logistics, site conditions, and mobilization requirementsScout project sites to support logistics planning and mobilizationCoordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, engineers, and project managers to ensure complete project scopeTeam & Client CollaborationCommunicate professionally with potential clients and project stakeholdersWork effectively within a small, collaborative team environmentBuild and maintain strong professional relationshipsSupport project teams with estimating and cost-related informationEstimating Systems & DocumentationUtilize estimating software and industry-standard toolsMaintain accurate and organized estimating documentationFollow established estimating procedures and industry best practicesMaintain a clean and organized work environmentRequired Qualifications10+ years of experience in civil construction estimating or a related fieldHigh school diploma or equivalentStrong understanding of civil construction methods and materialsExperience with quantity take-offs and cost estimatingAbility to perform advanced calculations and interpret technical dataStrong knowledge of labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skillsExcellent attention to detailAbility to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environmentWorking knowledge of construction safety practicesValid driver's licenseAbility and willingness to travel as requiredIndustry ExperienceExperience with one or more of the following is highly valuable:

Cement and concreteAggregatesReady-mix plant operationsPiling / foundationsMaterial handlingHeavy civil constructionMarine constructionInland constructionLarge-scale infrastructure projectsSoftware & Technical SkillsTEAMS estimating softwareRIB Construction SuiteOther industry-standard construction estimating softwarePrimavera scheduling software preferredProject controls experience preferredAbility to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentsPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering or related disciplineExperience estimating large-scale construction projectsPrimavera P6 or related scheduling experienceExperience with project controlsExperience with marine or heavy civil constructionWork EnvironmentWork may be performed in an office, plant, and active job-site environmentsRegular exposure to outdoor weather conditionsExposure to dust, noise, heavy equipment, and active construction operationsRegular physical activity including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
