Job Description

TEEL Construction is looking for an Estimator to join our growing Preconstruction team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into the details, building strong relationships with trade partners, and working collaboratively to turn opportunities into successful projects. As an Estimator at TEEL, you'll play an important role throughout the preconstruction process - from reviewing plans and developing scopes to soliciting bids, analyzing costs, and supporting project handoff. We're looking for someone who brings strong construction knowledge, attention to detail, and a team-first mindset while taking ownership of their work and contributing to TEEL's continued success.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
Estimate and bid profitable construction projects without sacrificing the company's commitment to quality and profitability. Cultivate new and existing relationships with company stakeholders including Owners, Architects, Subcontractors and Suppliers. Specific Daily Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Prepare estimates on all projects assigned Review bid coverage daily Review large bids with Vice President of Preconstruction and Project Manager responsible for the respective account. Review plans, specifications and contract documents Initiate sales calls to past customers and current prospects Detail and review bids for special requirements or materials of the project Solicit and receive subcontractor quotes Evaluate subcontractor quotes and choose which subcontractors to use, while addressing general subcontractor questions Determine preliminary in-house manpower requirement and personnel list required for each bid, if required. Communicate with Project Management to accurately determine a realistic schedule Present quotations to senior management, requiring only the final setting of fee Assist with pre-construction services and early buy out of jobs Reports directly to Vice President of Preconstruction Department Goals include, but are not limited to: Develop and maintain standard procedures for all estimating work Analyze unsuccessful bids and determine errors and remedial measures Compile data based on past project cost Assemble history of square foot costs, etc. for budgeting purposes Mentor personnel in the estimating department Assist project management team in providing conceptual budgets Make suggestions for additional improvements appropriately
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
4 - 15 years of experience in Commercial Construction Estimating. Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred. Must have Microsoft Word and Excel knowledge. Prefer knowledge of Procore and Building Connected. Must have an aptitude for math, attention to detail and accuracy. Must have strong organizational and communication skills. Must have ability to prepare conceptual and budget estimates for customers. Needs to have the ability to recognize and perform tasks before given specific direction or with minimal supervision for routine duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires infrequent field visits, 10% field and 90% office or as necessary. This description is a summary and not an exhaustive attempt at covering every activity and task of the job.
