As our company continues to grow, we are looking for a knowledgeable and organized Field Estimator to help manage our growing volume of estimate requests. This is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on construction, remodeling, maintenance, or estimating experience who understands how projects come together and enjoys working with customers. Position Summary The Field Estimator will be responsible for managing estimate opportunities from the initial request through site evaluation, preparation of the estimate, customer follow-up, and approval. This is a field-based position . The estimator will travel to residential and commercial properties, meet with customers, evaluate requested work, take measurements and photos, develop detailed scopes of work, determine anticipated labor and material requirements, and prepare professional estimates. The ideal candidate understands construction and repair work well enough to walk into a project, identify what needs to be done, anticipate the steps required to complete it, and clearly communicate that scope to both the customer and our team. Responsibilities Contact customers and coordinate estimate appointments Conduct on-site evaluations at residential and commercial properties Discuss project needs and expectations with customers Take accurate measurements, photographs, and detailed job notes Develop clear and thorough scopes of work Determine anticipated labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor needs Research material pricing and availability as needed Prepare detailed estimates using Housecall Pro Identify project assumptions, exclusions, and potential additional work when appropriate Communicate professionally with customers throughout the estimating process Follow up on outstanding estimates and customer questions Make estimate revisions when necessary Maintain accurate records and estimate statuses in Housecall Pro Communicate approved project information to the operations team Work with management and technicians when additional expertise is needed Maintain an organized schedule and estimating pipeline Represent Valley Maintenance Services professionally while on customer properties Qualifications Previous experience in construction, remodeling, property maintenance, estimating, or a related trade strongly preferred Broad understanding of residential and/or commercial construction and repair practices Ability to identify labor, material, and equipment needs for a variety of projects Strong attention to detail Ability to take accurate measurements and perform basic construction calculations Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and time-management skills Comfortable working independently and managing multiple estimates at different stages Comfortable using computers, smartphones, and tablets Experience with estimating or field-service software is preferred but not required Housecall Pro experience is a plus Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required What We're Looking For We understand that the right estimator does not always come from a traditional estimating background. We're looking for someone who can look beyond the obvious repair and think through the entire project — what needs to happen, in what order, what materials and skills will be required, and what potential complications should be considered before work begins. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is comfortable recognizing when additional expertise is needed and collaborating with our team to ensure estimates are accurate. Compensation & Benefits 40 hours per week Paid lunch Paid time off Paid company holidays 401(k) with company match up to 4% Company vehicle and fuel provided for work-related travel Work Environment This position includes a combination of field and office work.
