Role:
At Mid Coast Glass, we believe the best people in the glass industry bring more to the table than technical skills alone. We're looking for an experienced glazing professional who combines strong industry knowledge, hands-on experience, exceptional customer service, and natural leadership abilities. The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded background in residential and commercial glazing, with the ability to confidently assess projects, recommend solutions, and guide our installation team. Just as importantly, we're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people, communicates clearly, and understands the value of creating a positive customer experience. In this role, you'll use your experience to prepare accurate field estimates, identify project requirements, troubleshoot challenges, and help develop the skills of other technicians. You'll also serve as a trusted point of contact for our customers, helping them understand their options and feel confident in the services we provide. We're not simply looking for the most experienced glazier or the best salesperson. We're looking for the right combination of technical knowledge, customer service, problem-solving skills, and leadership. You should be someone who can walk onto a jobsite, recognize what needs to be done, explain it professionally to the customer, and communicate the necessary details to our team to ensure the job is completed correctly.
Your Responsibilities and Duties Customer Service & Field Estimating:
You'll meet with customers at their homes and businesses, listen to what they need, take accurate measurements, and explain the options you recommend.
Project Planning:
You'll identify the glass, hardware, materials, installation methods, and labor each job requires. Your experience will help us catch potential challenges before installation day.
Estimate Preparation:
You'll work with our office team to prepare accurate estimates, providing clear scopes of work, measurements, photos, and notes.
Field Leadership:
Our technicians will look to you for practical guidance. You'll help them work through installation questions, troubleshoot problems, and make sound decisions in the field.
Training & Mentoring:
You'll share what you know and help our technicians become more confident and capable in measuring, installing, handling glass, and working with customers.
Installation Support:
You'll step in to help with installations, challenging projects, and service work as needed. This is still a hands-on position.
Quality Control:
You'll help us maintain high standards by reviewing workmanship and checking that completed projects fit, function, and look the way they should.
Team Communication:
You'll keep the office and installation team informed so everyone understands the job details, material requirements, and customer expectations.
Safety:
You'll follow safe work practices and help reinforce them with the team. Your Qualifications & Experience You'll be a strong fit if you bring: Substantial hands-on residential glazing experience, along with commercial glazing experience. Experience installing shower enclosures, mirrors, replacement glass, and residential windows and doors. Working knowledge of commercial storefront systems, doors, and hardware. The ability to take precise measurements and determine the right materials and installation methods. A friendly, professional personality that helps customers feel comfortable asking questions. The ability to explain solutions clearly and set realistic expectations. Patience and a willingness to teach—you enjoy helping others get better at their work. Strong problem-solving skills, good judgment, and dependable follow-through. The ability to read drawings and document job requirements clearly. Comfort with estimating software and a willingness to learn our systems. A valid driver's license. What Success Looks Like Your customers feel heard and understand what we're proposing. Your estimates give our team the details they need to arrive prepared. Our technicians know they can turn to you for guidance, and their skills improve because you take the time to help them learn. You'll help us complete smoother installations, catch problems earlier, and deliver work we can all be proud of. Working with us is definitely not for everyone. We're working to become the most customer-focused glass company on the Central Coast. To get there, we need people who care about their work, support their teammates, and treat customers well. Having Shared Values Is Just as Important.
Here Are Ours:
✅ Be happy: You bring a positive, constructive attitude and start with gratitude. ✅ Say yes: You're willing to try something new, take on a challenge, and help where you're needed. ✅ Be willing to be wrong: You can own a mistake, ask a question, and stay open to a better way of doing things. ✅ Stay hungry to learn and grow: You bring experience, but you know there's always something more to learn. ✅ Discover before creating: You're willing to learn from others and use methods that already work. ✅ Improve systems: When something goes wrong, you help us improve the process so we can prevent the same problem next time. ✅ We serve: You care about getting the right result for customers and respecting their homes and businesses. ✅ Keep it simple: You communicate clearly and look for practical solutions. ✅ Team first: You share your knowledge, lend a hand, and help the people around you succeed. ✅ Do it anyway: You follow through, even on the parts of the job that aren't your favorite. ✅ Continuous improvement: You look for small ways to make our work, service, and teamwork better every day. Who This Is NOT For ❌ You don't enjoy meeting customers or helping them understand their options. ❌ You prefer to keep your knowledge to yourself rather than help others learn. ❌ You're looking for a strictly office-based role without installation responsibilities. ❌ You don't enjoy solving problems or working with a team. ❌ Accurate measurements, clear documentation, and follow-through aren't priorities for you. If this sounds like the kind of role you've been looking for, we'd like to hear from you. Bring your experience, your people skills, and your pride in the trade—and help us build a stronger team at Mid Coast Glass.
