Job Description

Larry J. Bakker launched Landscape Design Services in 1968 at the same location where it remains today between Holland and Grand Haven. At the time, Larry was working out of his home with just one employee and a truck. Since then, the business has grown to become the largest full-service landscape company in West Michigan, with 190 professionals delivering landscape architecture, construction, and maintenance services at an exceptional level. We are seeking an experienced Landscape Sales & Account Manager, known internally as a Client Service Professional, to manage and grow a book of business across our landscape and winter services. This role combines knowledge of horticulture, landscaping, or a related green industry with client relationship management and sales. You will assess client properties, recommend services and enhancements, develop proposals, pursue new business through networking, and work closely with field operations teams to deliver quality service and profitable accounts. What You Will Do Serve as the primary point of contact for landscape and winter services clients, acting as a liaison to our design and operations teams. Respond to daily client and prospect communication, orders, requests, and complaints promptly. Develop and present maintenance and enhancement proposals to current and prospective clients, follow up on opportunities, and secure new and renewed business. Visit client properties to assess service quality and identify maintenance and enhancement needs. Coordinate scheduling with operations and communicate project scope and client expectations to coordinators and crews. Participate in weekly maintenance scheduling and review meetings, and attend maintenance group operations meetings. Propose solutions to issues on client properties, and meet with clients to recommend landscape solutions. Strengthen client relationships through our Client Engagement Strategy — regular communication, periodic site visits, and follow-up reports. Market Landscape Design Services and our landscape and winter services through personal networking and various events, and support broader company marketing efforts. Develop, retain, and grow a contracted book of business by pursuing new clients, renewing service agreements, and selling enhancements to existing clients. Work as a team with the other Client Service Professionals to meet and exceed group sales and service goals. Invoice clients monthly, or more frequently as work is completed, and monitor projects for efficiency and profitability. What You Will Bring High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience in horticulture, agriculture, landscaping, or a related green industry required, with the ability to apply that knowledge to landscape maintenance and client property needs. Experience managing client relationships and identifying or developing sales opportunities, with the ability to prepare proposals, follow up with prospects, and grow accounts. Working knowledge of landscape maintenance practices and the ability to assess properties and recommend appropriate services or enhancements. Understanding of how project scope, labor, materials, and equipment affect service delivery and profitability. Good verbal, written, and organizational skills. Problem resolution skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients under pressure. Ability to work independently while collaborating as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications A two-year program or bachelor's degree in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field. CGIP or other industry certification. Horticulture coursework or training. Bilingual communication skills in Spanish and English. Schedule Travel and Work Environment This role splits time between the office and client properties throughout West Michigan, with regular site visits to review property needs and check on ongoing landscape projects and services. A company vehicle is provided for client and job-site travel. Schedule may include some evening or weekend availability for networking events and seasonal client needs, particularly during peak season. Physical Requirements Regular travel to client properties and job sites to conduct inspections and consultations. Ability to walk properties in varying outdoor conditions and terrain. Ability to safely operate a company vehicle for client and site visits. Communicate clearly and read/interpret proposals, contracts, and site plans. Any offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening.
