Underground Laborer
Job Description
Our company, Alcon Excavating, is looking to hire underground water/sewer labors. Underground Water/Sewer labors will perform general labor and maintenance work, storm, water, and sanitary sewer maintenance, clean out, and locate underground utilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Hand digging around existing utilities
- Flagging dump trucks
- Operating hand tools
- Connecting/disconnecting chains/slings from pipe
- Leads with positive attitude toward policies pertaining to safety, and regularly works to foster a safe work environment.
- Timecards and record keeping - timely and accurately maintains and completes quantity records and timecards.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the foreman or project manager as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Must be 18 years of age
- Driver's License
- Previous construction experience a plus
- Knowledge of industry standard means and methods, materials, and equipment helpful
- Skill and knowledge in operating equipment such as dozers, excavators, front end loaders, motor graders, backhoes, etc. commonly used in earthwork a plus
- Ability to participate in operating light, heavy, and special motorized equipment a plus
- Lead with a Safety-First Mindset.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally with your supervisor and crew members
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the essential functions of this job, this position requires the ability to stand, walk, use hands, and handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, lift above their head, and talk or hear.
- Able to kneel, crouch or stoop, climb ladders, bend at the waist, squat, and crawl in tight or confined spaces to perform the essential functions.
- This position will require the ability to lift, manually move or push more than 75 pounds.
- Ascending and descending ladders or stairs is required, and movement on uneven terrain is frequently required to carry out essential duties.
- Ability to work in several diverse locations is pertinent, as work locations may change daily.
- Expected work hours will vary by job, location, and season.
- May be required to travel to construction project locations as required for whatever periods of time as are necessary to complete such projects.
