Position Overview:

As a Senior Core Cutter, you will play a key role in supporting geological exploration programs by overseeing the safe and accurate processing of drill core samples. Working on-site with one of our valued clients, you will be responsible for core handling, cutting, sampling, and data quality assurance while mentoring junior technicians and ensuring adherence to operational and safety standards. This position requires extensive core processing experience, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality geological data. Key Responsibilities Lead and perform core processing activities, including washing, photographing, marking up, logging support, sampling, and cutting drill core. Operate and maintain core cutting equipment safely and efficiently. Accurately measure and record core recovery, RQD, and sample intervals in accordance with project procedures. Ensure proper sampling techniques and chain-of-custody procedures are followed to maintain sample integrity. Conduct quality control checks on core handling, sampling, and documentation processes. Coordinate the collection and transportation of drill core and RC samples from drill sites as required. Provide guidance and training to junior core technicians and assist with workflow coordination. Maintain accurate records, sample inventories, daily reports, timesheets, and other project documentation. Ensure compliance with all site safety policies, environmental regulations, and client procedures. Communicate effectively with geologists, drilling personnel, and project management to support operational objectives. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Requirements Minimum of 3-5 years of drill core cutting, sampling, and core shack experience within mineral exploration or mining environments. Demonstrated experience measuring and recording core recovery, RQD, and geological sampling intervals. Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures related to core handling and sampling. Proven ability to operate core saws and other sample preparation equipment safely and efficiently. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while leading and supporting team members. Background in geology, earth sciences, or mining technology is preferred. Valid driver's license required. Surface MSHA Metal/Non-Metal certification required.
