Reporting to the Process Supervisor, the Entry Level Heap Leach Operator typically works a 4-day, 10-hour schedule. The Operator builds, dismantles, and replaces panels, connects yelomine, deploys drip emitters, fuses HDPE pipes, adjusts flows and changes filters and monitors the overall performance of leach pad as needed in an efficient and safe manner.
Key Areas of Responsibilities & Duties:
The key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Works in a safe and efficient manner. Maintains safe attitude and looks out for others.
Participates in good housekeeping in all areas including, shoveling of crusher spillage, maintaining clean work environment in equipment and light vehicles.
Participates in weekly assignments of cleaning lunchroom and rest rooms.
Performs daily walk around inspections of work area and light vehicle/equipment inspections.
Assists with piping of the heap leach pad in a safe and efficient manner.
Shovels and hoses down areas for cleanup in a safe manner.
Fuels light vehicles and support equipment without spillage.
Performs light maintenance such as greasing equipment.
Drags yellow mine pipe and emitter tubing with assistance.
Travels independently in light vehicles to and from heap leach and lay down yards around mobile equipment in a safe manner.
Understands supplies and tools required for jobs and can safely and efficiently gather supplies and tools as directed.
Minimum Qualifications and Skill Requirements:
Prior experience in process operations such as mill, crusher, heap leach or plant experience, preferred.
Mechanical aptitude, preferred.
Ability to effectively report all incidents and accidents to supervisor.
Efficiently report spills, mortalities, etc. to supervisor.
Ability to work without creating petroleum or chemical spills.
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE including but not limited to footwear, high visibility clothing, and eye and hearing protection.
Can work safely with chemicals including lime, cyanide and caustic.
Ability to work safely around mobile equipment.
Can describe issues with work area to aid operations and direct maintenance work.
Communicates with coworkers and supervisors in a professional and courteous manner. Additional Qualifications and Skill Requirements
Must meet respirator standards and use respirators when required.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to work outdoors with exposure to allergens.
Ability to communicate effectively, in English, using all standard forms of business communication.
Must have good safety and attendance records.
Must be a self-starter and can complete work with little or no direct supervision.
