Competitive hourly wage, based on experience Join Our Team We are a family-owned general contractor specializing in grading, excavation, underground utilities, and full site development, as well as plumbing, rentals, and pumping services throughout Southern California. We take pride in delivering high-quality work while maintaining a strong focus on safety, accountability, and teamwork. We are currently seeking a dependable and motivated Heavy Equipment Operator (Operator B) to join our field operations team. This position is ideal for an operator with some experience who is looking to grow their skills in grading and excavation work on active construction sites. The right candidate will be willing to learn, follow direction, and develop into a more advanced operator over time. Responsibilities Safely operate excavators, skid steers, and other light to mid-size construction equipment. Perform basic excavation, grading, trenching, and site preparation work under supervision. Assist with underground utility installation and general earthwork activities. Conduct daily equipment inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns. Perform basic cleaning and routine care of assigned equipment. Work closely with foremen and senior operators to complete tasks safely and efficiently. Maintain awareness of surrounding crews, equipment, traffic, and changing job site conditions. Follow instructions and learn proper grading techniques, excavation methods, and site procedures. Assist with general labor duties as needed to support the crew and project progress. Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients, inspectors, subcontractors, and the public. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations. Qualifications Required 1-3 years of heavy equipment operating experience preferred (training may be considered for the right candidate). Basic understanding of excavation and grading work. Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team. Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record. Reliable attendance and willingness to learn and improve skills. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and job site environments. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test. Preferred Some experience operating excavators, skid steers, or similar equipment. Basic knowledge of construction site safety practices. Interest in growing into a higher-level operator role over time.
