Job Description

Lawson Drayage is looking for a Class A CDL Driver / Rigger to join our team. This is a hands-on position that combines commercial driving with rigging and machinery moving. You will work alongside an experienced team to safely load, transport, unload, position, and relocate heavy machinery and equipment for our customers.
What We're Looking For:
Someone who is safety-focused, dependable, comfortable working around heavy equipment, experienced with Class A driving and load securement, and willing to work as part of a team. Experience with rigging and machinery moving is preferred, and Lawson provides hands-on training to help employees continue developing their skills in the trade. Key Responsibilities Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles to transport machinery and equipment to and from customer locations and job sites. Load, unload, and properly secure equipment using chains, binders, ratchet straps, and other appropriate securement methods. Communicate with dispatch regarding job assignments, daily tasks, and job status. Inspect and prepare loads before transport. Assist with determining safe methods for lifting, moving, and positioning machinery and equipment. Select, inspect, and use appropriate rigging equipment for assigned projects. Assist with setting, aligning, leveling, and relocating heavy machinery. Safely operate or work around forklifts, overhead lifts, hoists, winches, jacks, rollers, and other machinery-moving equipment. Assist with wrapping, banding, packing, crating, and uncrating equipment as needed. Prepare and protect job sites, including setting up and removing floor protection. Inspect rigging equipment before and after use and report damaged or unsafe equipment. Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and equipment. Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, contractors, and other onsite teams. Follow all company, DOT, OSHA, and applicable safety requirements. Complete required safety training and maintain applicable licenses and certifications. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Valid Class A CDL and current DOT medical card. Commercial driving experience with flatbed loads and proper load securement, including chains, binders, and ratchet straps. Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and driving history. Ability to drive a manual transmission. Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and related equipment. Basic computer skills for training, payroll, and other operational functions. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Safety-focused, dependable, and able to follow established procedures. Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively as part of the team. Preferred Qualifications Experience with rigging, machinery moving, heavy equipment, or a related trade. Experience operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment. Forklift experience and/or ability to become forklift certified. Familiarity with OSHA safety standards. Experience working in logistics, transportation, construction, machinery moving, or a similar environment. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull at least 50 lbs. Ability to assist with the movement and positioning of heavy machinery and equipment. Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, and climb as required. Ability to sit for extended periods while driving. Ability to work at heights and in noisy environments. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and job-site conditions. Must have the vision and hearing necessary to safely perform job duties and communicate in active work environments.
Compensation & Benefits Pay:
$28.00-$31.00 per hour, depending on experience.
