Job Description

Experienced Main Line Excavator Operator - EDGE Contracting, Inc. Join One of Colorado's Premier Heavy Civil Construction Teams EDGE Contracting, Inc. is a growing heavy civil contractor based in Golden, Colorado, specializing in underground utilities, drainage improvements, site development, excavation, and infrastructure projects throughout the Denver Metro Area. We are seeking an experienced Main Line Excavator Operator to join our field operations team and help deliver high-quality wet utility projects across the Front Range. Position Summary The Experienced Main Line Excavator Operator will safely operate excavators ranging from mid-size to large production machines in support of underground utility installations including storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main, and related infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong trenching skills, utility awareness, grade control knowledge, and a commitment to safety and teamwork. Responsibilities Safely operate excavators for installation of water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and drainage systems. Perform precise trench excavation, bedding, pipe placement assistance, and backfill operations. Read and interpret construction plans, profiles, utility drawings, and grade stakes. Work closely with Pipe Layers, Foremen, Superintendents, and grade crews to maintain production and accuracy. Excavate around existing utilities safely and efficiently. Utilize laser and GPS grade control systems when applicable. Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance. Identify and report equipment deficiencies promptly. Maintain proper trench safety and OSHA compliance at all times. Support site grading, loading trucks, and other construction activities as needed. Maintain a clean and professional appearance of equipment. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Minimum 5 years of excavator operating experience in heavy civil or underground utility construction. Extensive experience excavating for deep utility installations. Ability to read plans, grade stakes, and utility drawings. Strong understanding of trench safety and underground utility construction practices. Experience operating around existing utilities and confined work areas. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen. Legally authorized to work in the United States. Preferred Experience with GPS machine control systems (Trimble, Topcon, Leica, etc.). Experience with large diameter utility installations. CDL License. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification. Experience operating additional heavy equipment including loaders, dozers, and skid steers. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment. Ability to climb on and off equipment multiple times per day. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, etc.. Ability to work safely around trenches, excavations, and active construction sites.
