Job Description

About Aguaculture At Aguaculture, we're doing more than operating heavy equipment — we're helping restore Florida's waterways and improve the environment for future generations. Using innovative, nature-based technology, we remove harmful nutrients from Florida's waterways and repurpose them to improve soil health. Our work supports cleaner water, healthier land, and sustainable environmental solutions. With long-term government contracts and continued growth, we're building a strong team of skilled professionals who take pride in their work. We're looking for an experienced Excavator Operator who wants a stable, long-term opportunity with a growing, mission-driven company. About the Position We are seeking a highly skilled, dependable, and mechanically inclined Excavator Operator to join our Operations team. This position involves operating and maintaining large excavators, including specialized aquatic equipment, in marine and environmentally sensitive environments throughout South Central Florida. We're not simply looking for someone who knows how to operate an excavator. We need an experienced operator who understands heavy equipment, recognizes potential mechanical problems, prioritizes safety, and takes ownership of their machine and daily responsibilities. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently and as part of a team, enjoys hands-on work, and can adapt to changing field conditions. Key Responsibilities Safely operate large excavators and specialized aquatic excavation equipment. Perform excavation and material-handling operations in marine and environmentally sensitive areas. Conduct daily equipment inspections, routine maintenance, and basic mechanical troubleshooting. Identify and report equipment issues before they lead to costly breakdowns. Follow project plans, operational instructions, and established safety procedures. Work closely with team members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently and accurately. Maintain equipment cleanliness, proper operation, and overall job-site safety. Document daily work activities, equipment usage, and maintenance needs. Travel to project locations throughout South Central Florida as needed. Assist with additional field operations and responsibilities when necessary.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Proven, hands-on experience operating large excavators in construction, earthmoving, marine, or similar heavy equipment operations. Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting. Solid understanding of heavy equipment operation, job-site safety, and safe excavation practices. Ability to work safely and efficiently in outdoor, physically demanding environments. Dependable work history, strong work ethic, and excellent attendance. Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, and work well with a team. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Willingness to travel to job sites throughout South Central Florida.
Highly Preferred:
Previous experience operating excavators in aquatic, marine, wetland, or waterway environments. OSHA safety training or certification. Experience performing basic mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), preferably Class A. What We're Looking For Beyond technical experience, we're looking for someone who: Takes ownership: Treats equipment responsibly and takes pride in doing the job correctly.
Is mechanically minded:
Understands how equipment works and recognizes problems early.
Puts safety first:
Remains alert, follows procedures, and protects coworkers and equipment.
Is reliable:
