Job Description

Job Overview:
Job Responsibilities:

•Operate excavators, backhoes, trenchers, and other heavy equipment for the installation and repair of underground utilities (e.g., gas lines, water pipes, fiber optics). Read and interpret blueprints, locate utility lines, and understand project specifications to ensure accurate excavation. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment, including fluid checks, to ensure safe and efficient operation. Monitor equipment performance and identify any mechanical issues, reporting them to supervisors. Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and implementing traffic control measures. Coordinate with ground crew and other team members to ensure smooth workflow and project completion. Assist with manual labor as needed, including digging, lifting, and moving materials. Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment. Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and clients.

Job Qualifications:

•High school diploma or equivalent. Proven experience (minimum 2 years) operating heavy equipment for underground utility construction. Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and utility maps. Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to excavation and utility installation. Physical ability to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work in various weather conditions. Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.
