Job Description

Company Overview Danzer Veneer Americas, a member of the Danzer Group, is one of North America's leading manufacturers of quality hardwood veneers. The Danzer Group is the world's largest manufacturer of hardwood veneers. It is an international conglomerate of companies which process high quality woods for decorative purposes. This family-run company has been producing hardwood veneer and lumber as well as trading in round logs and timber for over 70 years. Job Summary The Skid Steer Operator handles material transport, yard cleanup, and general plant support. This role ensures all veneer ang log scrap is moved to the grinder for use in our fuel system for boiler operations, while keeping safety protocols active in a busy industrial mill.
Responsibilities Material Handling:
Move chips, bark, and blocks to the grinder for processing
Safety Compliance:
Follow strict mill safety rules, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and watch for pedestrians and heavy machinery on site
Yard Maintenance:
Clear bark, sawdust, wood chips, and debris from the log yard,
Cleaning:
Daily cleaning of the grinder and chip area.
Equipment Checks:
Perform daily pre-shift inspections on the skid steer (checking fluids, tracks/tires, hydraulic hoses, and safety lights).
Routine Maintenance:
Clean the cab, grease pivot points, refuel, and report major mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
1 to 2 years of experience operating a skid steer or compact loader in an industrial, lumber, or construction setting.
Licensing:
Valid state driver's license; forklift or heavy equipment operator certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to climb on and off the machine safely, work in outdoor weather or non-climate-controlled mill environments and occasionally lift-up to 50 pounds. Attention to
Detail:
Strong spatial awareness to maneuver safely in tight spaces around valuable timber inventory and co-workers.
Pay:
From $14.05 per hour
