The Pump Hoist Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of pump hoist equipment used to install, remove, inspect, repair, and maintain water well pumping equipment. This position performs field work on municipal, commercial, industrial, and geothermal water well systems. The position requires a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and the ability to safely operate pump hoists, trailers, and related equipment. The successful candidate will work both independently and as part of a field crew and must be comfortable working outdoors in all conditions, at varying job sites, and around heavy mechanical equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate pump hoist trucks and associated equipment safely and efficiently. Transport pump hoist equipment, pumps, motors, tooling, materials, and other equipment to and from job sites. Perform pump removal and installation activities on water wells. Assist with installation, removal, inspection, maintenance, and repair of: Submersible pumps and motors Vertical turbine pumps Column pipe and shafting Well heads and discharge piping Check valves and related pumping equipment Geothermal pumping equipment Set up and operate hoist equipment, winches, cables, slings, chains, and rigging equipment. Properly rig and handle heavy equipment and materials in accordance with company safety procedures. Assist with pump testing, well development, well rehabilitation, and other water well service activities. Operate trucks, trailers, forklifts, loaders, and other equipment as qualified. Perform routine inspection, lubrication, and basic maintenance of hoist trucks and field equipment. Identify and report mechanical problems or unsafe conditions with vehicles, hoists, tools, and equipment. Maintain accurate job documentation, equipment records, service reports, and time records. Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly secure equipment and materials. Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, DOT regulations, and applicable state and local requirements. Communicate professionally with customers, municipal personnel, contractors, and other members of the field crew. Assist other departments and field crews as needed. Perform other duties related to water well and pump service operations as assigned. CDL /
Driving Responsibilities:
Maintain a valid CDL appropriate for the equipment operated. Safely operate commercial vehicles and pump hoist trucks on public roads and job sites. Complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Maintain required driver logs and documentation. Properly secure loads, tools, pipe, pumps, and other equipment for transportation. Comply with applicable DOT regulations and company requirements.
Physical Requirements:
The Pump Hoist Operator must be capable of performing physically demanding field work, including: Frequently lifting and carrying equipment and materials weighing up to 100 pounds. Standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching, and working in awkward positions. Climbing ladders and accessing well heads, pump houses, and equipment platforms. Working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Working around water, mud, dust, noise, machinery, and other typical field conditions.
Required Qualifications:
Valid Class A CDL required. Acceptable driving record. Ability to safely operate a heavy truck and pump hoist. Ability to work safely around cranes, hoists, rigging, pumps, motors, and other heavy equipment. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn water well pumping systems. Ability to read and understand basic mechanical drawings, measurements, and written instructions. Ability to work independently and as part of a crew. Dependable attendance and willingness to work overtime, extended days, and overnight travel when required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous pump hoist, water well, drilling, or pump service experience. Experience operating a service truck, crane, winch, or other heavy equipment. Knowledge of submersible and vertical turbine pumping systems. Experience with rigging and lifting heavy equipment. Experience working in municipal or commercial water systems. Welding, mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic experience.

Detail-oriented and capable of completing accurate paperwork. Professional when interacting with customers, contractors, and other personnel. Willing to learn and develop additional technical skills. A team player who understands that field work requires cooperation and flexibility.
Working Conditions:
This is primarily a field-based position . Work will occur at water wells, pump stations, treatment facilities, commercial properties, geothermal sites, construction sites, and other locations throughout the service area. The position may require early morning starts, overtime, emergency service, overnight travel, and extended workdays depending on project requirements.
