We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator at our Norfolk, NE location. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining equipment used in the processing and sorting of scrap metal, moving of slag material, and/or various support areas for the mill. You will be working in a fast-paced environment, ensuring materials are moved efficiently and safely within the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate overhead cranes, magnets, and other heavy equipment to move scrap metal and materials within the yard. Operate front-end loaders cleaning and loading hot-pit slag, cooled slag, and other material into various haulage trucks. Load and unload materials from trucks and containers. Ensure the equipment is in proper working condition and conduct daily maintenance checks. Operate equipment in a manner that minimizes unplanned maintenance and equipment downtime. Work closely with other team members to ensure materials are sorted and processed according to specifications. Follow all safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe work environment. Assist with yard organization and maintain clean, orderly workspaces. Perform other duties as needed to support operations.

Qualifications:

(Preferred) Proven experience as a Heavy EquipmentOperator, preferably in scrap metal, mining, or industrial settings. Strong knowledge of safety protocols and best practices for operating heavy machinery. Understanding and experience with

OSHA/MSHA

guidelines. (Minimum) Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment. Ability and willingness to be trained in multiple pieces of heavy equipment. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on heavy equipment. Ability to take direction, think critically, and adapt to changing working conditions and demands.
