Job Description
BC Excavating | Rockbridge, OH $32-$38 per hour + Overtime | Travel Required About the Position BC Excavating is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to join our civil construction team. This position involves operating a range of heavy machinery on earthwork, excavation, grading, utility, and substation projects across Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia . We are a non-union, family-oriented contractor looking for dependable individuals who take pride in their work and are willing to contribute to the overall success of the jobsite. While equipment operation is the primary responsibility, operators may also assist with general site work and other field duties as needed. What You'll Do Operate excavators, dozers, graders, skid steers, and other heavy construction equipment. Perform excavation, grading, earthwork, and utility-related work according to project requirements. Use GPS machine control technology, including Trimble, Topcon, or comparable systems . Review construction plans, elevations, grades, and site layouts to complete work accurately. Conduct equipment inspections before and after each shift. Report mechanical issues, maintenance needs, and safety concerns to the foreman or supervisor. Assist with general construction and site work when equipment operation is not required. Follow company safety procedures and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Work closely with other crew members to keep projects moving safely and efficiently. Requirements At least 1 year of experience operating heavy equipment in civil construction, excavation, grading, utilities, or a related field. Familiarity with GPS machine control systems , such as Trimble or Topcon. Ability to understand grades, elevations, and construction drawings. Valid driver's license and dependable transportation. Ability and willingness to travel throughout Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia . Comfortable with overnight travel as project schedules require. Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic. Ability to work effectively as part of a field construction crew. Preferred Qualifications Experience operating equipment weighing 50,000+ lbs. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. CDL or previous experience transporting heavy equipment. Background working on utility, electrical substation, energy infrastructure, or similar projects. Pay & Benefits $32-$38 per hour , depending on experience and qualifications Overtime opportunities 4-day workweek: Monday-Thursday, 10-hour shifts Health insurance: 65% employer-paid after 90 days 401(k) with company match Paid holidays Paid time off (PTO) Daily travel per diem: $115-$140 , depending on project location Physical & Work Requirements This is a hands-on construction position that requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Candidates should be able to:
Lift and carry up to 60 lbs.
