Filled Description:

The Town of Afton is seeking a Temporary Snow Plow Driver in Afton to help provide a safe and efficient transportation system throughout the Town of Afton during the winter months. This is temporary, part-time position and is not subject to health insurance or retirement benefits. This position will report directly to the Public Works-Streets Director for daily/weekly assignments. This position will require flexibility with scheduling including weekend. This position includes but is not limited to removal of snow with plow trucks and heavy equipment such as backhoes, dump trucks and street sweepers. Position duties are performed primarily outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. The applicant must represent the Town of Afton by responding to the public, citizens and its employees in a prompt, professional and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor. Applicant will follow all Town of Afton safety procedures. Report all accidents/incidents immediately to supervisor. Performs all other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Valid Driver's License
• Maintain and operation of core and complex equipment safely and proficiently.
• Performance of duties involved in removing snow and ice from roadways.
• Operate single and tandem axle trucks, equipped with plows, wing plow, sander to remove snow and ice from roadway surfaces.

QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to applicants who have a current Class B commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements prior to employment, and experience in road construction, maintenance, and equipment operations.

KNOWLEDGE

• Oral and written communication sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair procedures.

TRAINING AND EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D)
• 1-3 years' experience performing snow removal
