Responsibilities:
Reports To Director Plant Maintenance Job Summary The Painter- Construction applies coats of paint, varnish, enamels or lacquer to decorate and protect interior and exterior surface, trimmings and fixtures of the hospital, using paintbrushes, rollers, scrapers and blowtorches. Provides oversight on construction jobs related to painting projects. Duties Smoothes surfaces, using sandpaper, wire brushes, or steel wool and removes old paint from surfaces using paint remover, scrapers, wire brushes or blowtorch to prepare surfaces for painting Fills nail holes, cracks and joints with putty, plaster or other fillers Selects premixed paints or prepares paint to match specified colors by blending and mixing required proportions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances Paints surfaces, using brushes, spray gun, or paint-roller Simulates wood grain, marble, birch or tile effects Create special effects by ing paint with cloth, brush, sponge or fingers Rigs staging or erects scaffolding Spreads cloth or canvas over floors and furniture to protect them from spattered paint May perform any or all of the following: Cut stencils and stencil surfaces with lettering or decorations; paint signs on such surfaces as cloth, bulletin boards, walls, doors, windows and equipment; replace door and window glass; paper walls and ceilings; whitewash and calcimine surfaces; do freehand glaze finishes; refinish furniture and fixtures; estimate time and material costs on painting and redecorating jobs Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications High school Graduate or Equivalent One year experience as a painter or 1-3 years as a painter-helper is preferred Must possess a valid California drivers license with a clean DMV record Organizational Expectations Provides a positive and professional representation of the organization Promotes culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and prevention Maintains hospital standards for a clean and quiet patient environment to maintain a positive patient care experience Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities Maintains compliance with organization's policies, as well as established practices, protocols, and procedures of the position, department, and applicable professional standards Complies with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential patient information Demonstrates excellent customer service through his/her attitude and actions, consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements

Functional Demands Lifts and carries objects such as ladders, containers of paint, and rolls of covering materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Climbs and balances on ladders when painting upper walls, ceilings and stairways. Kneels, crouches, stoops and crawls when preparing surfaces for painting. Reaches, handles, fingers and feels tools such as brushes, rollers and putty knife
