RESPONSIBILITIES
Painters work at each of the communities. They apply paint, stain, primers, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, furniture, buildings and building fixtures. Painters also fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers using caulking guns or putty knives. These team members are also expected to wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations, as well as sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly to the surface. This position may also be requested to apply appropriately requested materials to signs, parking lots, streets and play/dog walk areas.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Apply paint, stain, primers, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, buildings and building fixtures.
  • Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers using caulking guns or putty knives.
  • Wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations, as well as sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly to the surface.
  • Apply appropriately requested materials to signs, parking lots, streets and play/dog walk areas.
  • Cover surfaces with drop cloths and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
  • Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, or using water and/or abrasive blasting and smooth surfaces using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool, or sanding machines.
  • Complete work order requests received from Community or Maintenance Personagers.
  • Must have a good understanding of the various chemicals used in paint solutions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with community staff and provide outstanding customer service.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of painting experience preferred.
  • Must demonstrateknowledge of painting tools, equipment, materials, and application techniques.
  • Must be skilled in the preparation and application of paints, stains, and surface prep materials.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be able to move up to 50 lbs.

  • Indoor/outdoor environment.
