Job Description

KZ Industries is hiring a dependable, well-rounded pipefitter/welder who understands industrial projects from start to finish. This position combines shop fabrication with traveling field work, including setting tanks, installing equipment, fitting pipe, and MIG/TIG welding. What You'll Do Responsibilities vary by project and may include: Help carry projects from planning, material preparation, and layout through fabrication, installation, and final completion. Set, position, align, and secure tanks and industrial equipment. Measure, cut, prepare, fit, assemble, and install pipe, tubing, fittings, supports, and related components. Perform MIG welding for fabricated assemblies, equipment supports, brackets, and other project components. Perform TIG welding on pipe, tubing, stainless steel, and components requiring precise, controlled welds. Prepare weld joints through cutting, beveling, grinding, cleaning, fitting, and tack welding. Set up welding equipment and select appropriate settings, filler materials, and shielding gas for the work. Inspect fit-up and completed welds and make corrections to meet project requirements. Read and interpret drawings, layouts, measurements, and project instructions. Identify and organize the tools, materials, and equipment needed for each stage of work. Troubleshoot fabrication and installation challenges and communicate progress with the team. Assist with loading, unloading, moving materials, and organizing supplies. Complete site cleanup, remove scrap and debris, and maintain safe, orderly work areas. Care for company vehicles, tools, and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned to support the crew and finish the project. What We're Looking For Practical experience in pipefitting, welding, fabrication, industrial installation, or related mechanical work. A well-rounded understanding of how a project comes together from start to finish. MIG and/or TIG welding experience and a willingness to continue developing both skills. Experience with stainless steel, pipe, or tubing is preferred. Accurate measuring and fit-up skills, attention to detail, and pride in quality work. Dependable attendance, clear communication, and the ability to work independently and with a crew. Willingness to help with all aspects of the job, including preparation, installation, and cleanup. Ability to report to Hinton, Iowa, or willingness to relocate. A valid driver's license and ability to operate a company truck safely. Willingness to travel and remain away until distant projects are completed. Schedule & Travel Expectations Shop schedule: Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., with optional Friday work.
Field schedule:
Typically 12-14-hour days, with daily work while on the road. Field assignments always include overtime. Most nearby projects allow employees to return home on weekends. Distant projects require several weeks away, with employees remaining on the road until the project is finished. Employees can generally expect at least three months' notice for planned projects. Smaller projects may require travel on short notice or immediate availability. Pay:
$30.00 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 60.0 per week
