Who we are: US Fire Pump is the industry leader in developing, manufacturing, and distributing custom designed industrial firefighting pumps, water supply units, and heavy-duty fire apparatus. Our primary mission is to protect the lives of the public and fire industry personnel while limiting property damage. US Fire Pump also maintains the largest industrial Emergency Response Team and equipment assets in the world.
Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Stainless Steel Pipe Fitter / Fabricator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for fitting and tack-welding stainless steel piping used in the manufacturing of custom fire trucks and industrial firefighting equipment. The ideal candidate is a skilled pipe fitter who can read the job, visualize the finished assembly, properly fit and align pipe, and tack components together with minimal reliance on detailed blueprints. This is a hands-on manufacturing position requiring strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to consistently produce clean, accurate assemblies. The majority of the work will involve 4"-12" diameter stainless steel pipe, fittings, flanges, valves, and related components.
Job Responsibilities:
Fit and assemble stainless steel piping and related components for fire truck manufacturing. Work primarily with 4"-12" diameter pipe, including elbows, tees, reducers, flanges, valves, and other fittings. Measure, lay out, cut, fit, align, and tack pipe assemblies to proper dimensions. Determine proper pipe orientation, positioning, and fit-up based on experience, job requirements, and the intended finished assembly. Accurately tack components while maintaining proper alignment and minimizing distortion. Work effectively without relying solely on blueprints or highly detailed drawings to determine pipe fit-up and orientation. Use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and pipe-fitting/fabrication equipment safely and effectively. Grind, clean, and prepare stainless steel surfaces as necessary for welding and final assembly. Work closely with welders, fabricators, and other members of the manufacturing team to ensure assemblies are properly prepared for final welding. Inspect finished fit-ups for proper dimensions, alignment, appearance, and workmanship. Identify and correct fit-up issues before components move to the next stage of production. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Follow all company safety policies and manufacturing procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a pipe fitter, pipe fabricator, stainless steel fabricator, or similar position. Demonstrated experience fitting and assembling pipe and fittings. Ability to accurately measure, cut, fit, align, and tack pipe assemblies. Experience working with stainless steel piping strongly preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to visualize three-dimensional pipe assemblies. Ability to work from measurements, reference points, existing assemblies, and job requirements rather than relying exclusively on blueprints. Ability to use common fabrication and pipe-fitting tools. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work independently while also working effectively as part of a manufacturing team. Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Experience:
Candidates with experience in any of the following are especially encouraged to apply: Experience fitting large-diameter stainless steel pipe. Experience with pipe used in fire trucks, fire pumps, industrial firefighting systems, or similar equipment. Experience preparing pipe assemblies for TIG welding. Welding experience is a plus, but the primary responsibility of this position is pipe fitting and tack-up. Ability to interpret basic fabrication drawings and dimensions when provided. Previous manufacturing or custom-equipment fabrication experience.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and work in various positions throughout the workday. Ability to climb into and out of compact and tight spaces. Ability to routinely lift and move materials and components. Ability to work with large and heavy pipe, fittings, and assemblies using appropriate lifting equipment and assistance when required. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, metal fabrication activities, and industrial equipment. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Benefits:
401K with company match Health, Vision, Dental, Life, Accident Long-term and Short-term Disability, Specified Disease Paid vacation and holidays
Job Type:
Full-time We are looking for someone who knows how to fit pipe—not someone who needs every connection completely laid out for them. A successful candidate will be able to look at a piping assembly, understand where the components need to go, make the necessary measurements and adjustments, get the pipe properly aligned, and tack it accurately and efficiently so that it is ready for final welding. If you take pride in precise fit-up, have strong mechanical skills, and enjoy building custom equipment from the ground up, we want to hear from you.
