Supports the College Mission and serves students, employers, and the college community by preparing and providing relevant technical instruction. Under general supervision, prepares relevant curriculum for competency-based instruction in an open-entry/open-exit or lecture environment for a relevant industry. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing 2. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations 3. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals 4. Must have open, positive communication skills with the ability to foster a productive learning environment 5. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, supervisors, partners, and the public 6. Demonstrated ability to use technology 7. Physical ability to perform the essential functions of a line worker including: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping 8. Climb and work on power poles for extended periods of time to install, replace, and repair equipment, using required safety equipment, such as full-body harnesses. 9. Conduct jobs in accordance with relevant codes and site-specific procedures while following applicable safety procedures. 10. Operate mobile equipment. 11. Hoist work-related equipment, material, and tools. 12. Perform installation of all high voltage components 13. Communicate with fellow employees in order to maintain satisfactory work conditions. 14. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. 15. Increase job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical and regulation publications, as applicable. 16. Perform any other duty or assignments as directed.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
1. Encourage growth through industry connectivity 2. Prepare relevant curriculum for competency-based instruction 3. Develop and maintain current program and course outlines, goals and objectives 4. Align class curriculum with industry standards 5. Actively assist in accreditation processes 6. Advise, evaluate, and record student progress 7. Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in respective industry 8. Maintain certifications, licensures and accreditation standards for program area 9. Assist with student recruitment, retention and job placement efforts 10. Create, support, and maintain an active Occupational Advisory Committee and industry partnerships 11. Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area 12. Foster a productive learning and training environment 13. Encourage and exemplify professionalism and good work habits 14. Request and maintain supplies and equipment inventories 15. Propose required budget and purchase requests; follow purchasing guidelines 16. Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports 17. Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma/GED or higher level. 2. Certified Journeyman Lineman 3. Four (4) years' experience as a Journeyman line worker 4. Two (2) years' experience in power line construction 5. Must have pole climbing experience 6. Must successfully pass criminal background check 7. Must possess a valid driver's license This position is on-call/as-needed, part-time/non-benefited.
