Full Job Description Position Overview:
We are seeking experienced 1st Class Marine Pipefitters for shipyard work throughout the Hampton Roads area. Qualified candidates should have strong marine pipefitting experience and be comfortable installing, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining piping systems aboard ships and within shipyard environments.
Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot marine piping systems. Work with piping systems involving water, steam, gas, and other materials. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and written specifications. Lay out and measure piping systems to determine proper pipe location and routing. Cut pipe to required lengths using band saws, grinders, oxyacetylene torches, pipe-cutting machines, and other applicable tools. Thread pipe using stocks, dies, and related equipment. Bend pipe using manual and powered pipe-bending equipment. Assemble piping using couplings, fittings, flanges, and other components. Install and secure piping to hangers and supports. Perform standard calculations related to pipe size, pressure, flow, and system requirements. Perform testing to verify completed piping systems meet applicable specifications and requirements. Follow all shipyard safety procedures and work requirements.
Qualifications:
Previous 1st Class Marine Pipefitter experience required. Ability to read and interpret marine piping drawings and blueprints. Knowledge of pipe layout, installation, fabrication, and repair. Ability to safely operate common pipefitting tools and equipment. Must be able to pass all required background and security requirements. Must be eligible to obtain access to shipyards and Naval facilities Must be dependable and able to work scheduled overtime, including Saturdays, as required.
Schedule:
6:00 AM - 4:30
PM:
Monday through Saturday 8- or 10-hour shifts depending on workload and project needs
Compensation:
$25.00-$35.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications #ISS
