SCM leverages fundamental and intra-basin knowledge to optimize the value of producer resources, reduce bottlenecks, and deliver higher netbacks to our producers.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Crude Oil Pipeline Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of LACT (Lease Automatic Custody Transfer) units at customer locations.
This role includes inspecting and adjusting equipment as necessary, controlling product flow, ensuring product quality, and maintaining a comprehensive record-keeping system to monitor operations. The position reports to the Lead Pipeline Operator and does not have supervisory responsibilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate and maintain
SCM LACT
units and associated equipment at producer locations and crude terminals.
Perform regular oil sample grind outs to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
Witness and document monthly LACT unit meter provings within the assigned area.
Manage liquid storage tank operations, ensuring compliance with maximum fill rates, operating pressures, overpressure protection, inventory, and product characteristics.
Participate in work permit composition, including general and hot work permits, and adhere to lock-out/tag-out procedures.
Assist in the maintenance and repair of pipelines, facilities, and equipment.
Interpret typical drawings and documentation related to pipeline facilities, including process flow diagrams and pipeline alignment sheets.
Conduct regular facility inspections and coordinate routine maintenance.
Implement waste management activities in compliance with regulations.
Participate in excavation awareness programs and maintain communication with emergency responders near pipeline rights-of-way.
Respond to operational emergencies as a member of the Area Emergency Response Team.
Perform additional duties as required for relief assignments or as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; one to three years of related experience and/or training preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Good customer relation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with landowners and personnel.
Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in various environmental conditions, including temperature extremes and around industrial equipment.
Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and hold equipment and tools, and work in a variety of positions, including standing, sitting, lying down, crouched, or kneeling.
Proficient in responding to visual, aural, and other signals, including alarms and instructions. Required to conduct visual inspections of work.
Willingness to work in confined spaces (e.g., tanks, between compressors, vessels) as required.
