$20.00 to $35.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, licensing, and scope of responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Plumber is responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing plumbing systems, fixtures, piping, and related equipment. The position performs preventative maintenance and emergency repairs while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable plumbing codes, regulations, manufacturer requirements, and company procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Install, repair, replace, and maintain plumbing systems, piping, valves, fixtures, drains, pumps, water heaters, and related equipment. Diagnose plumbing problems and determine appropriate repair or replacement solutions. Perform preventative maintenance and inspections of plumbing systems. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, plumbing plans, and technical specifications. Measure, cut, thread, solder, braze, assemble, and install various types of pipe and plumbing materials. Test plumbing systems for leaks, pressure, proper operation, and code compliance. Clear clogged drains and repair or replace damaged piping and fixtures. Operate plumbing-related hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and equipment appropriate to the assignment. Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, inspections, and repairs. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Follow all applicable OSHA, safety, environmental, building, plumbing, and company requirements. Coordinate work with contractors, maintenance personnel, electricians, HVAC personnel, and other trades as necessary. Respond to emergency plumbing situations when required. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Relevant plumbing experience, vocational training, apprenticeship, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, tools, and repair methods. Ability to read basic blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation. Valid driver's license may be required depending on job duties and travel requirements. Appropriate New York State or local plumbing licensing/certification, when required by the work being performed. Preferred Qualifications Journeyman plumbing license or equivalent credential. Commercial, industrial, institutional, or facilities plumbing experience. Experience with preventative maintenance programs. Experience troubleshooting complex plumbing systems. OSHA safety training. Experience working with computerized maintenance-management systems (CMMS). Work in mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, basements, utility areas, construction areas, and other locations where plumbing systems are installed. Visually inspect equipment, piping, fixtures, gauges, and work areas. Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and contractors. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Perform work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions as required by the job. The ability to perform the essential functions of the position is required. Work Environment The position may involve working indoors and outdoors and may be exposed to varying temperatures, moisture, noise, dust, construction materials, chemicals, and other workplace conditions associated with plumbing and maintenance operations. Compensation Recommended hiring range:
$20.00 - $35.00 per hour , depending on experience, licensing, demonstrated skills, and job responsibilities.
