Job Description Are you a master carpenter who loves building elite custom homes but wants to step into field leadership without giving up your tools? We are looking for a Hands-On Working Construction Foreman to lead our high-end residential job sites. This role requires an individual who can balance daily crew management, scheduling, and subcontractor oversight while actively working on-site ("putting the bags on"). You will be the technical lead executing complex architectural designs, structural framing, and premium finishes. Because you will deal directly with Harper & Co.'s high-net-worth clients, design teams, and top-tier vendors, we need a level-headed professional who communicates clearly, stays calm under pressure, and represents our legacy with absolute integrity. What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities) Hands-on Craftsmanship (65% of the role): Work directly alongside the crew to execute complex structural framing, custom roof cutting, and flawless finish millwork. Training the crew and helping them to master their craft. Field Leadership (35% of the role): Direct daily tasks for our team of local finish and rough carpenters.
Project Management:
Communicating frequently with the Project manager to make sure things are running smoothly.
Relationship Management:
Maintain professional, respectful, and productive relationships with homeowners, architects, suppliers, and trade contractors.
Subcontractor Management:
Coordinate with luxury specialty trades (such as custom stone masonry, advanced HVAC, and smart-home installers).
Plan Reading:
Interpret highly detailed architectural, structural, and interior design schematics to minimize mistakes.
Digital Logging:
Use project management software (like Buildertrend or CoConstruct) to submit daily field updates and progress photos.
Jobsite Safety Management:
Ensuring the site is safe and all OSHA codes and requirements are being met. What We are Looking For (Requirements)
Experience:
5+ years of hands-on luxury residential carpentry experience with at least 2 years in a leadership or crew chief role.
Communication Skills:
Exceptional verbal communication. Able to deliver updates clearly and handle site challenges with a level head.
Precision & Accuracy:
A relentless drive for perfection with a focus on executing every detail flawlessly the first time.
Tools:
Equipment:
Candidates are expected to possess a complete set of professional carpentry bags and essential hand tools.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of complex math/geometry for custom framing, roof cutting, and high-end staircase installation.
Environmental Resilience:
Capacity to maintain peak performance while operating in harsh climates and fluctuating seasonal weather conditions.
Physical Endurance:
Must be in excellent health with the capacity to lift up to 80 lbs. and safely navigate ladders to manage on-site verticality.
Language Proficiency:
Full literacy and verbal fluency in English is mandatory. Conversational Spanish is considered a valuable asset for site coordination but is not a requirement for the position.
Screening:
Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and a pre-employment drug screening and have valid ids to legally work in the
US License & Vehicle:
Valid Utah Driver's License with a clean driving record and a reliable truck capable of hauling tools across local county job sites. Properly maintaining a company vehicle if issued one.
