$19.23-$25.63 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications Position Summary SolQ is seeking a dependable and skilled Residential Solar Installer to join our growing team in Iowa City, IA. This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and wants to develop a career in the renewable energy industry. As a Residential Solar Installer, you will help install residential solar photovoltaic (PV) systems from site preparation through completion. You will work with the installation crew to safely and efficiently install solar panels, racking systems, mounting equipment, and related components while following project plans, safety procedures, and applicable codes. Responsibilities Install residential solar PV systems on rooftops, garages, and other approved structures. Prepare job sites and take measurements to support accurate system installation. Install solar panels, racking systems, mounting hardware, and related equipment. Follow project plans, blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and installation specifications. Assist with electrical components and connections within the scope of the position. Inspect completed installations to verify workmanship and compliance with company standards and applicable codes. Identify installation issues and work with the crew to troubleshoot and resolve problems. Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and adjustments to solar equipment as needed. Work with the installation team to complete projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Communicate professionally with homeowners and provide updates throughout the installation process. Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites. Follow company safety procedures and safe work practices, including procedures for working at heights. Required Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. At least 1 year of hands-on solar installation experience preferred. Basic knowledge of electrical systems, tools, and components. Ability to read and follow blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively as part of an installation team and independently when needed. Ability to safely work on rooftops and at elevated heights. Ability to perform the physical duties of the position, including climbing, lifting, carrying, bending, and standing for extended periods. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Professional communication and customer-service skills. Preferred Qualifications 1-2 years of residential solar PV installation experience. Technical, trade, or vocational training in solar, electrical work, construction, or a related field. NABCEP certification or progress toward an industry-recognized solar credential. Experience with residential rooftop solar installation and mounting systems. Compensation & Benefits $19.23-$25.63 per hour , depending on experience and qualifications. Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position is performed primarily at residential job sites and involves indoor and outdoor work. The role requires working at elevated heights and on rooftops, as well as exposure to changing weather conditions. The position may require climbing ladders, lifting and carrying equipment and materials, bending, reaching, standing, and performing other physical tasks associated with solar installation.
