You do NOT need to already be a chimney sweep. If you have experience in construction, masonry, concrete, roofing, remodeling, skilled labor, or another hands-on blue-collar trade , we want to talk to you. We're looking for somebody who knows how to work with their hands, is comfortable using hand and power tools, has good common sense, takes pride in doing quality work, and can be taught. We'll teach the right person how to sweep, inspect, diagnose, repair, and improve chimney and fireplace systems. The Kind of Person We're Looking For You may be a great fit if you've spent years doing things like: Masonry or brick work Concrete work Construction Roofing Remodeling Carpentry Skilled labor Home repairs or maintenance Other hands-on trades You don't have to know chimneys yet. We can teach chimneys. We need you to bring the work ethic, mechanical ability, common sense, and willingness to learn.
We especially want someone who:
Works hard and doesn't mind getting dirty Knows their way around hand and power tools Can safely use ladders and work at heights Can figure things out and solve problems Takes pride in craftsmanship Shows up and can be counted on Communicates well with customers Wants to learn a specialized trade Wants the opportunity to earn more as their skills grow What We'll Teach You Our technicians do much more than just sweep chimneys. We will provide training and help prepare the right employee to become a CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep/Technician. Becoming certified will be required as you progress in the position, but we don't expect you to walk through the door already knowing the chimney business. We're looking for someone who is willing and able to learn it. Sales & Customer Communication Are Important This isn't a high-pressure sales job, but our technicians work directly with homeowners. When you inspect a chimney and find a legitimate safety issue or needed repair, you need to be able to clearly explain the problem, recommend the proper solution, and help the homeowner understand the value of getting it fixed correctly. Previous sales experience is a big plus. If you're good with people but haven't done much selling, we can train you. We're looking for someone who can eventually combine three things: Technical skill + quality craftsmanship + the ability to communicate and sell. The better you become at all three, the greater your earning potential. Pay & Opportunity Training pay starts at $18/hour. After training, technicians can earn approximately $20-$50/hour , depending on experience, skill level, certifications, production, sales ability, and responsibilities.
