Executive Director
Job Description
Purpose:
To support the day-to-day operations of Young Professionals of Martin County (YPMC) and execute the strategic direction and priorities established by the Board of Directors, with a particular focus on events, sponsorships, communications, member engagement, and community outreach.

Board of Directors Position:
Part-Time, approximately 10-15 hours per week on average. Hours may vary based on the annual event calendar, special events, meetings, and organizational needs.
Compensation & Benefits:
Base and incentive compensation will be provided in accordance with the Board-approved YPMC Compensation Package. YPMC membership and approved professional training are included as applicable. Primary Duties and Job Responsibilities Sponsorship Development and Stewardship
◦ Cultivate, solicit, secure, and steward annual and event sponsors in alignment with Board-approved sponsorship goals.
◦ Maintain accurate sponsor records, commitments, benefits, fulfillment, and follow-up communications.
◦ Coordinate sponsor recognition and deliverables before, during, and after YPMC events. Event Planning and Execution
◦ Plan, coordinate, and execute YPMC programs and events in accordance with the Board-approved annual calendar, including networking events, professional enrichment programs, and special events.
◦ Coordinate venues, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, event logistics, registration, communications, and day-of execution.
◦ Prepare an event recap and preliminary financial summary following each event, in coordination with the Treasurer and/or bookkeeper, and provide it to the Board in a timely manner.
◦ Maintain event-related records, invoices, receipts, contracts, and other documentation in YPMC-approved systems. Communications and Marketing
◦ Manage YPMC social media and communication platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and the organization's email/newsletter platform.
◦ Maintain a consistent, professional YPMC voice and brand across communications.
◦ Oversee routine website updates and conduct periodic reviews to ensure information is current and accurate.
◦ Monitor and respond to YPMC email and other official communication channels regularly, with timely escalation of Board-level matters to the President. Committee and Volunteer Support
◦ Chair the Outreach and Communications Committees unless the Board determines that another committee structure is more appropriate or a Board member or other designated volunteer expresses interest in serving in a leadership role. When another individual serves as chair, the Executive Director will serve as staff liaison and support the committee in carrying out Board-approved goals and initiatives.
◦ Assist with meeting coordination, agendas, recaps, volunteer recruitment, and delegation of responsibilities as appropriate.
◦ Collaborate with the Membership Committee to support membership growth, retention, onboarding, and communication of member benefits.
◦ Collaborate with Professional Enrichment and other committees to support programming and event promotion.
◦ Identify and help implement volunteer and community giveback opportunities for YPMC members throughout the year. Board and Organizational Support
◦ Attend monthly Board meetings and provide reports on events, sponsorships, communications, outreach, and other assigned areas.
◦ Maintain at least one designated office hour per week, with the schedule communicated to the President and Board.
◦ Maintain organized institutional records and support continuity during annual Board and leadership transitions.
◦ Use only YPMC-approved financial and payment channels when collecting or processing funds on behalf of the organization; organizational funds may never be routed through a personal account.
◦ Safeguard confidential organizational, sponsor, member, and Board information and comply with YPMC policies and applicable Codes of Conduct.
◦ Perform other reasonable duties consistent with the Executive Director role as assigned by the President or authorized by the Board of Directors. Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills Event planning, coordination, and project management Sponsorship solicitation, stewardship, and basic sales/negotiation skills Social media, email marketing, and digital communications management Volunteer and committee coordination Strong organization, follow-through, time management, and attention to detail Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent communication with volunteer leadership Sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, and ability to represent YPMC positively in the community Knowledge of Martin County and the local business/nonprofit community, or the ability to quickly develop strong local relationships Basic financial literacy sufficient to track event income/expenses and coordinate accurately with the Treasurer and bookkeeper Education and Experience Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered. At least 2 years of experience in event planning, nonprofit/community engagement, membership organizations, marketing/communications, sponsorships, or a related field preferred. Must be able to reliably attend in-person meetings and events throughout Martin County, including occasional evenings and special events. Proficiency with common office and digital communication tools; experience with social media and email marketing platforms preferred.
