Job Description

General Statement of Duties The primary responsibility of this position is to serve as the business manager of a local health department. Employee has the responsibility for the organization and supervision of fiscal and budgetary operations, purchasing, and to serve as an Assistant to the Health Director. Duties and Responsibilities/Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of business and business administration; Considerable knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, and equipment; General knowledge of personnel, purchasing and accounting practices and procedures including general ledger entries; Ability to plan and direct fiscal and business services and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, other county officials and the general public. Solid understanding of Local Health Department programs and operations is required. Desirable Education and Experience Graduation from a four-year college or university, preferably with a major in business, public, or hospital administration, and four years of administrative experience involving. participation in the planning and management of a business or governmental program; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Prior Public Health Administration/Finance experience is strongly preferred including but not limited to: Medicaid Cost Settlement; Aid-to-Counties; Medicaid Transformation AUBPs; billing and reporting associated with delivering clinical services; and general understanding of public health accreditation standards.
Special Requirement:
