$85,000-$95,000 per year Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Buyer to manage purchasing, inventory planning and supplier relationships for an established industrial distribution company. This is not simply a purchase-order processing position. The Buyer will analyze demand, inventory levels, lead times and sales activity to determine what to purchase, when to purchase it and how much to order . The right candidate will have strong purchasing judgment, supplier negotiation skills and experience managing inventory in an industrial, manufacturing or similarly product-driven environment. Responsibilities Plan purchases using sales history, demand trends, inventory levels, open orders and supplier lead times Determine appropriate order quantities and replenishment timing Establish and maintain minimum and maximum inventory levels Create, manage and track purchase orders through delivery Identify and address shortages, backorders, excess inventory and slow-moving products Coordinate inventory transfers between locations when appropriate Respond to requests for supplier pricing, product availability, lead times and special quotations Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers Negotiate pricing, payment terms, minimum order quantities and delivery schedules Evaluate current and potential suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability, lead time and supply risk Resolve supplier issues involving pricing, delivery, quality or warranties Coordinate purchasing requirements for international shipments Maintain accurate supplier, pricing, lead-time and inventory information in the ERP system Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve product availability and strengthen purchasing processes Qualifications At least five years of purchasing or buying experience Experience making inventory planning and replenishment decisions—not only processing purchase orders Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Supplier negotiation and strategic sourcing experience Experience working with ERP or MRP systems Strong Microsoft Excel skills Excellent organization, communication and follow-through High school diploma or equivalent required Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience preferred Preferred Experience Industrial distribution, manufacturing, MRO, fluid power, PVF or another inventory-intensive environment International purchasing or import experience ERP What We Offer Paid time off Medical insurance Dental and vision insurance Tuition reimbursement Retirement plan Additional company-sponsored benefits This opportunity is well suited for a motivated purchasing professional who enjoys analyzing inventory, solving supply challenges and taking ownership of a substantial product portfolio.
