Join a manufacturer with room for growth! We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Specialist to join our Procurement team in Orangeburg, NY. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the uninterrupted supply of raw materials, packaging components, maintenance parts, operating supplies, and services that support our manufacturing operations. The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, optimizing inventory levels, controlling costs, and ensuring on-time material availability to support production schedules and customer commitments. This individual will work closely with Operations, Materials Management, Production, Finance, and suppliers to drive supply chain efficiency and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Inventory Management

• Develop and execute procurement plans and purchase orders based on inventory targets, forecasts, lead times, and production requirements.
• Manage the procurement of raw materials, packaging components, maintenance parts, services, and operating supplies.
• Monitor inventory levels daily to ensure material availability while minimizing excess inventory and maximizing warehouse utilization.
• Analyze historical usage, forecasts, supplier performance, and market conditions to support informed purchasing decisions.
• Ensure inventory remains within established targets while supporting operational and customer service objectives. Supplier Management
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply, quality, service, and cost competitiveness.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to achieve favorable commercial outcomes.
• Manage supplier performance and ensure timely fulfillment of purchase commitments.
• Resolve supplier-related issues including delays, shortages, quality concerns, pricing discrepancies, and shipment inaccuracies.
• Identify opportunities to improve supplier performance, reduce costs, and mitigate supply chain risks. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner closely with Production, Materials, Warehouse, Maintenance, and Finance teams to align procurement activities with business needs.
• Communicate potential shortages, inventory risks, and supply disruptions proactively to minimize operational impact.
• Support receiving, inventory control, and warehouse processes to ensure accurate material transactions and inventory integrity.
• Assist with cycle counts, inventory reconciliations, and month-end inventory reporting activities. Systems & Data Management
• Maintain procurement data, supplier records, contracts, pricing, and purchasing documentation within the ERP system.
• Ensure all purchasing and inventory-related transactions are entered accurately and in real time.
• Utilize data and reporting tools to identify trends, opportunities, and risks across the supply chain.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to procurement processes, inventory management, and supplier performance. Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of inventory management principles, procurement best practices, and supplier relationship management.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience working with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics AX experience is highly preferred.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
