Full-Time Position Summary Weitsman Recycling LLC is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Purchasing Specialist to support the purchasing and procurement needs of our recycling operations. The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for sourcing materials, obtaining and comparing vendor pricing, placing and tracking orders, maintaining vendor relationships, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring that our locations have the supplies, equipment, parts, and services necessary to operate efficiently. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and negotiator who can balance cost, quality, availability, and urgency while maintaining accurate purchasing records and following company purchasing procedures. Experience in scrap metal recycling, manufacturing, industrial operations, heavy equipment, transportation, construction, or another industrial environment is highly preferred. Essential ResponsibilitiesPurchasing & Procurement Manage day-to-day purchasing activities for assigned company locations and departments. Source materials, supplies, parts, equipment, services, and other operational needs. Obtain and compare multiple vendor quotes when appropriate. Negotiate pricing, terms, delivery schedules, and other purchasing conditions. Issue purchase orders and ensure purchases are properly authorized. Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with vendors regarding outstanding orders. Coordinate expedited purchases when operational needs require immediate attention. Identify opportunities to reduce purchasing costs without compromising quality or operational requirements. Research alternative products, vendors, and suppliers when cost savings or availability improvements are possible. Maintain appropriate documentation for purchases and vendor transactions. Vendor Management Establish and maintain professional relationships with vendors and suppliers. Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, delivery schedules, backorders, damaged goods, and discrepancies. Evaluate vendor performance based on pricing, quality, reliability, and service. Assist with negotiating vendor agreements and pricing arrangements. Maintain current vendor contact information and purchasing records. Identify and recommend new vendors when appropriate. Inventory & Operations Support Monitor inventory levels for frequently used supplies, parts, PPE, office supplies, and operational materials. Work with location managers and department leaders to anticipate purchasing needs. Help prevent unnecessary stock shortages and excessive inventory. Coordinate deliveries to the appropriate company location. Track critical equipment parts and supplies to minimize operational downtime. Assist with inventory reviews and reconciliation as needed. Communicate anticipated delays or shortages to management promptly. Cost Control & Reporting Monitor purchasing expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities. Review invoices and purchase orders for accuracy. Investigate discrepancies between purchase orders, invoices, and received goods. Maintain accurate purchasing records. Assist management with purchasing reports and vendor-spend analysis. Track pricing changes and identify significant increases or unusual purchasing activity. Support company efforts to standardize purchasing practices across locations. Multi-Location Support Coordinate purchasing needs across multiple Weitsman Recycling locations. Work with General Managers, Operations Managers, Maintenance, Transportation, Accounting, and other departments to determine purchasing priorities. Help standardize commonly purchased items and preferred vendors across locations when appropriate. Coordinate transfers or redistribution of available materials between locations when doing so is more cost-effective than purchasing new materials. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of purchasing, procurement, inventory, operations, administrative, or related experience. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to negotiate effectively and professionally. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Ability to work independently while also collaborating with multiple departments. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding company pricing, vendor information, and financial information. Preferred Purchasing or procurement experience in a scrap metal, recycling, manufacturing, industrial, construction, transportation, or heavy-equipment environment . Experience working with parts, equipment, maintenance supplies, PPE, or industrial materials. Experience with an ERP, purchasing, accounting, or inventory-management system. Experience managing multiple locations or departments. Experience negotiating vendor pricing and contracts. Associate's or bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Operations, or a related field. Because Weitsman Recycling operates in a fast-paced industrial environment, the Purchasing Specialist must be comfortable working with employees across multiple departments and responding quickly to time-sensitive operational needs. Physical Requirements Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods. Ability to occasionally walk through industrial yards, warehouses, and operational areas. Ability to safely navigate company facilities while following all required PPE and safety procedures. Ability to occasionally lift or move materials weighing up to [XX] pounds, if required by the position. Pay:
$80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
