Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the procurement process, ensuring that materials and supplies are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively. This position requires a strong understanding of supply chain systems and materials management, as well as the ability to negotiate prices and maintain relationships with suppliers.

THIS IS AN IN HOUSE POSITION.

Duties Conduct sourcing activities to identify and evaluate potential suppliers for various materials. Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to ensure the best possible deals for the company. Manage inventory levels through effective materials management and production planning. Utilize ERP and MRP systems to track orders, manage inventory, and forecast future needs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production and logistics, to ensure timely delivery of materials. Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality or delivery. Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information in the company's ERP database. Stay updated on market trends and changes in supply chain dynamics that may affect procurement strategies. Qualifications Proven experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing or supply chain environment. Strong knowledge of manufacturing, sourcing strategies, and materials management principles. Familiarity enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is highly desirable. Experience with production planning and MRP processes is a plus. Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers. Strong analytical skills to assess pricing trends and make informed purchasing decisions. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
