Position Summary The Buyer is responsible for managing and executing all purchasing activities for Kiski Precision Industries. This role ensures the continuous, cost-effective, and timely supply of raw materials (such as metals), components, hardware, tooling, and indirect supplies necessary to support production schedules and business operations. The Buyer will manage the entire procurement lifecycle from evaluating vendor quotes and issuing purchase orders to tracking deliveries and resolving supply discrepancies while aligning with company quality standards and customer-first goals. Utilize ERP/MRP software to review material requisitions, manage purchase orders, track open orders, and ensure data integrity. Research, identify, and evaluate suppliers to secure competitive pricing, optimal delivery terms, and quality assurance. Negotiate pricing, supplier terms, and blanket agreements to drive cost optimization and value creation. Collaborate cross-functionally with Production Scheduling, Estimating, and Quality teams to prevent material shortages and resolve lead-time issues. Monitor supplier performance metrics (on-time delivery, quality, cost) and address any vendor corrective actions or performance deficiencies. Review technical specifications, material certifications, and blueprints to ensure procured items meet internal and customer quality standards (such as ISO 9001 or ITAR compliance). Reconcile purchase orders with receiving documentation and supplier invoices to resolve discrepancies. Additional Duties Monitor inventory levels and participate in cycle counting or inventory audits as required. Assist in updating raw material cost data within the system to support accurate customer quoting. As assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of procurement principles, supply chain management, and material requirements planning (MRP/ERP). Ability to read and interpret basic technical specifications, manufacturing blueprints, or bills of materials (BOM). Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to build lasting vendor relationships. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to mathematical detail. High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced contract manufacturing environment. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2-4 years of purchasing or procurement experience, ideally within a machine shop, precision manufacturing, or industrial environment. Proven experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
