This role partners closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Engineering, Customer Support, and Finance teams to assess the operational and customer impacts of supplier disruptions, material defects, shortages, quality failures, and delivery issues. The position serves as the primary owner of the supplier recovery process, ensuring that all eligible costs are captured, validated, and pursued with suppliers through a disciplined recovery process. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, business acumen, negotiation capability, and the ability to work cross-functionally to protect Miller's financial interests while maintaining productive supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Recovery Administration Own and manage the end-to-end supplier recovery process across all domestic Miller operations. Identify supplier-related events that create operational, financial, quality, logistics, warranty, or customer impacts. Establish and maintain standardized processes for capturing supplier-related costs and recovery opportunities. Ensure timely investigation, documentation, submission, and resolution of supplier recovery claims. Maintain accurate records of all supplier recovery activity and recovery status. Cost Identification & Financial Analysis Collaborate with operations, manufacturing, quality, engineering, customer service, purchasing, and finance teams to identify supplier-related costs. Quantify direct and indirect financial impacts including, but not limited to production downtime, expedited freight, labor, rework and scrap, line disruptions, warranty expenses, field service costs, customer accommodations, inventory impacts and administrative expenses Analyze recovery opportunities and develop supporting financial calculations. Validate supporting documentation prior to claim submission. Supplier Engagement & Claims Management Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier recovery discussions. Prepare, present, and negotiate supplier recovery claims. Work directly with suppliers to obtain reimbursement, credits, chargebacks, or other agreed-upon settlements. Escalate unresolved supplier disputes through appropriate channels. Maintain professional supplier relationships while advocating for Miller's interests. Cross-Functional Partnership Partner with Purchasing and Quality Assurance teams to improve supplier accountability. Support root cause investigations and corrective action initiatives related to supplier performance issues. Coordinate with Finance to ensure recoveries are properly recorded and tracked. Work with Customer Service and Operations teams to assess customer-facing impacts and related costs. Assist leadership teams in identifying recurring supplier issues that require corrective action. Reporting & Continuous Improvement Develop and maintain supplier recovery metrics, dashboards, and reporting. Track recovery trends, open claims, recovered dollars, aging claims, and supplier performance impacts. Identify process improvements that improve cost recovery effectiveness and reduce future exposure. Provide regular updates to leadership regarding recovery performance and key supplier risks. Support special projects and strategic initiatives related to supplier performance and cost reduction.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field. 5+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, operations, manufacturing, quality, finance, or related business functions. Experience analyzing operational and financial data. Experience working in a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of supplier relationships and business processes. Experience with supplier claims, supplier quality, procurement, recovery management, cost accounting, or operations analysis. Knowledge of manufacturing cost structures and operational performance metrics. Experience negotiating commercial resolutions with suppliers. Experience using ERP/MRP systems and reporting tools.
