POSITION OVERVIEW
This Position is accountable for transactional support and procurement of required materials and services needed to support the manufacturing organization while maintaining spend to budget monthly. This position is responsible for purchasing transactions, including the processing of requisitions and purchase orders. Must ensure compliance with company policies and procedures for best practices to ensure best total cost and minimum inventory while supporting production.
HOURS:
Monday - Friday 40 hours a week.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Order material, expedite, move out, or cancel as appropriate to support production and drive cost and working capital results. Collaborate with sourcing team to identify sources of supply and pricing discrepancies Obtain information from suppliers concerning product, price, and delivery dates Identify and resolve issues, late deliveries, shortages, quality issues with vendors. Initiate and support continuous improvement activities to achieve improved efficiency. Process purchase requisitions for materials and services in ERP or Supplier Order Management systems and ensure system accuracy. Take ownership of open issues and ensure their timely resolution. Maintain effective supplier relationships and monitor supplier delivery performance. Maintain efficient
Kan Ban System:
ordering components, maintain correct card counts, update program to support new products as they come in. All other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1-2 years of manufacturing experience required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Prior experience with inventory control buying/purchasing preferred. ERP experience desired (Oracle, SAP, Epicor) High School Diploma or GED Demonstrated computer skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, TEAMS, and Access
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Effective negotiation skills. Takes initiative to take ideas and direction and convert them to workable solutions with minimal supervision. Ability to handle oneself professionally and build rapport with all customers (internal/external) and suppliers. Keep work area safe and clean (5S- Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) Needs to be able to organize and prioritize workload to meet due dates and execute multiple work activities. Must be self-motivated and demonstrate a positive attitude. Adhere to all safety guidelines and PPE requirements Good computer skills (Microsoft Office experience: Excel, Word, Outlook, TEAMS) Good verbal and written communication skills Able to read and interpret company documents, such as safety rules, operating instructions, policies, and procedures Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL
REQUIREMENTS- The Indirect Buyer position is primarily an indoor office position. However, the incumbent may occasionally be in the manufacturing plant, which requires walking and standing on concrete and the use of required PPE. Frequent sitting and/or standing Occasionally walking Occasional lifting or carrying up to a maximum of 25 pounds. Occasional reaching at desk level, above shoulders, overhead, and below desk level. Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse Occasionally, learning new tasks. Frequently remembering and focusing.
