SUMMARY The Ocean Export Specialist is responsible for managing ocean export shipments from booking through documentation and final departure. This position coordinates with customers, carriers, terminals, truckers, overseas offices/agents, and internal departments to ensure shipments are processed accurately and on schedule.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage assigned ocean export accounts and shipments from booking through vessel departure. Coordinate with steamship lines, truckers, terminals, warehouses, and overseas offices. Monitor shipment status, including container availability, pickup, CY cut-off, receiving cut-off, vessel schedule, and loading status. Provide customers with timely updates regarding booking, vessel schedules, delays, rollovers, and other operational issues. Communicate with internal operations teams to ensure smooth shipment execution. Prepare and review export shipping documents, including Bill of Ladings, SLI's, AES Filing, etc. Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation in the company's operating system. Coordinate with customs brokers regarding export customs clearance when applicable. Escalate operational issues to management when necessary.
SCHEDULE
9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Monday - Friday Overtime support as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years of experience of ocean export freight forwarding experience preferred Knowledge of ocean export processes, carrier bookings, B/L, SI, CY cut-offs, vessel schedules, and container operations. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to prioritize multiple shipments and meet strict deadlines. Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel. Experience with a freight forwarding/TMS operating system is preferred.
