Job Summary Traffic Manager Private Label Manufacturer is seeking an experienced Traffic Manager to manage and coordinate inbound and outbound freight for our growing manufacturing operation. The Traffic Manager will be responsible for ensuring that raw materials, components, and finished goods move efficiently and cost-effectively while meeting customer delivery requirements. This position will work closely with our Shipping, Warehouse, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Supply Chain teams, as well as outside freight carriers and logistics providers. Key Responsibilities Manage and coordinate inbound and outbound freight, including LTL, truckload, parcel, and other transportation services. Select and manage freight carriers. Negotiate freight rates, terms, and service levels with carriers. Prepare and manage RFQs/RFPs for transportation services, analyze carrier proposals, and make recommendations based on cost, service, reliability, and capacity. Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers and freight brokers. Monitor freight costs and identify opportunities to reduce transportation expense while maintaining required service levels. Coordinate shipment scheduling, pickups, deliveries, and appointments. Track shipments and proactively address delays, missed appointments, shortages, damages, and other transportation issues. Ensure compliance with customer routing guides, shipping requirements, and delivery procedures. Work with internal departments to ensure shipments are properly planned and documentation is complete and accurate. Review freight invoices and assist in resolving billing discrepancies and freight claims. Maintain transportation records and develop reporting on freight costs, carrier performance, and service levels. Assist management in developing and improving freight and transportation procedures as the company continues to grow. Qualifications Prior experience in traffic, transportation, freight management, logistics, or a similar role. Demonstrated experience negotiating with freight carriers and brokers. Experience conducting transportation RFQs and comparing carrier pricing and service proposals. Strong understanding of LTL and truckload transportation. Experience shippingto major retail chains is highly desirable, including familiarity with retailer routing guides, appointment requirements, delivery windows, and chargeback considerations. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong communication and negotiation skills. Comfortable working with transportation systems, carrier portals, spreadsheets, and related software.
