POSITION SUMMARY

Burkhardt Air Conditioning, Heating, Electrical & Generators is a locally owned, licensed, and insured contractor serving Greater New Orleans and the Northshore for more than 35 years. The VP of Operations leads all field operations, supply chain logistics, customer service delivery, and strategic growth initiatives across the company's HVAC, electrical, and generator service lines. This executive ensures that service and installation teams operate safely, profitably, and efficiently while meeting strict quality and customer satisfaction standards, and partners closely with the President/Owner on long-range strategy and resource allocation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership

• Drive growth: Build and execute long-term operational strategies aligned with the company's financial and business goals; represent operations in strategic planning and business development initiatives.
• Optimize processes: Create and standardize SOPs (pricing presentation, install checklists, maintenance agreements) to boost field productivity and minimize project delays.
• Scale infrastructure: Evaluate and deploy field service and dispatch software (e.g., ServiceTitan) and improve warehouse, fleet, and logistics infrastructure. Field & Department Operations
• Own daily and weekly operating performance across service, install, and maintenance departments dispatch efficiency, technician utilization, first-time-fix rate, and install completion timelines.
• Oversee teams: Direct the Service Manager, Install Manager, Office Manager, and dispatch/warehouse staff;
• Monitor performance: Track operational KPIs such as first-time-fix rate, technician/labor utilization, installation timelines, and van/truck stock levels.
• Ensure compliance: Enforce Safety regulations and the company's drug and alcohol testing policy.
• Assist HRwith recruiting, onboarding, and retention planning for field technicians in partnership; help close the skilled-labor gap.
• Monitor and improve customer satisfaction, callback/comeback rates, and warranty/rework costs. Financial & Budget Management

P&L:

Assist with the annual operating budget, profit and loss targets.

• Control costs: Monitor fleet expenses, equipment procurement, tool investments, and material wastage; oversee vehicle maintenance schedules and warehouse/inventory control to minimize truck stock-outs and downtime.
• Support seasonal capacity planning (staffing, overtime, subcontractors) to manage peak-season demand.

QUALIFICATIONS

Mandatory Requirements

• Clean background check and clean driving record required. Education

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Experience

• Desired 10+ years of progressive operations management experience, preferable in HVAC.
• Strongleadership skills with at least 5 years in an executive or senior leadership role. Skills
• Financial acumen: strong background in P&L management.
• People leadership: proven ability to mentor management teams and build accountability across field technicians and office staff.

Technology:

proficiency with CRM systems, field dispatching software, and data analytics dashboards.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with Company owners, technicians, and customers.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, compliance standards, and best practices in residential and commercial mechanical and electrical services.
• Proven ability to lead transformation and deliver measurable business outcomes.

Pay:

$110,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
