Full-Time About Us We are a small but growing national supplier of radiation shielding products and systems used in hospitals, imaging centers, medical facilities, dental offices, and other specialized construction environments. We supply products including lead glass, lead-lined doors and frames, radiation shielding windows, lead-backed drywall, sheet lead, and other specialty shielding materials. We also provide complete radiation shielding installation services throughout the United States. We are looking for an experienced, highly capable Chief Operating Officer (COO) to take ownership of the day-to-day operations of the company and help us build the systems, team, and infrastructure required for our next stage of growth. This is not a ceremonial executive position. We are looking for someone who is comfortable moving between high-level strategy and hands-on problem solving. The Role The COO will work directly with the owner and will be responsible for turning company goals into execution. Your primary objective will be simple: Make the company run better, faster, and more predictably without requiring the owner to be involved in every day-to-day decision. You will oversee the people, processes, systems, vendors, production, fulfillment, and operational performance that keep the company moving. Key Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day company operations across sales support, purchasing, production, fulfillment, logistics, installation, and customer service Manage employees, establish accountability, and ensure responsibilities are clearly assigned and completed Develop and implement SOPs, processes, and systems that allow the company to scale Identify operational bottlenecks and implement practical solutions Establish KPIs and reporting systems for each major area of the business Improve communication and coordination between sales, production, purchasing, shipping, and installation Oversee purchasing, inventory management, vendor relationships, and supply chain performance Monitor production schedules, lead times, order accuracy, and on-time delivery Help manage our nationwide radiation shielding installation operation, including scheduling, project coordination, material readiness, and crew logistics Improve estimating, quoting, order processing, and project handoff procedures Recruit, train, manage, and develop employees as the company grows Evaluate staffing needs and determine when additional personnel are required Negotiate with vendors and identify opportunities to reduce costs without sacrificing quality or service Work with accounting/bookkeeping to monitor margins, operating expenses, cash flow, and financial performance Develop budgets and operational forecasts Review profitability by product, project, and business segment Help evaluate new equipment, facilities, products, and expansion opportunities Implement technology and automation where it can improve efficiency Establish controls that reduce mistakes, rework, missed deadlines, and unnecessary costs Handle escalated operational and customer issues when necessary Provide the owner with clear reporting on company performance, problems, and priorities Take ownership of problems and drive them through resolution rather than simply identifying them What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who has previously helped operate and scale a successful business. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, financially literate, decisive, and extremely good at getting things done. You should be comfortable walking through a warehouse or production area in the morning, reviewing financial performance in the afternoon, negotiating with a vendor, solving a customer or logistics problem, and then developing a better process so the same problem doesn't happen again. Preferred Qualifications 7+ years of progressively responsible operations or business management experience Previous experience as a COO, VP of Operations, Director of Operations, General Manager, or similar leadership position Experience managing multiple departments and employees Experience in manufacturing, construction, building materials, distribution, specialty contracting, or a related industry strongly preferred Strong understanding of operations, purchasing, inventory, logistics, and project management Strong financial and business acumen Experience reading P&Ls and understanding margins, overhead, cash flow, and operational KPIs Demonstrated experience creating processes and SOPs Experience implementing operational software, automation, or ERP/business management systems is a plus Strong negotiation and vendor-management skills Excellent written and verbal communication Ability to hold employees accountable while building a productive team Strong problem-solving ability and sound judgment Comfortable working in a fast-growing company where processes are still being developed and improved The Person Who Will Succeed Here You are someone who sees a problem and instinctively wants to fix the system that caused it. You don't need a large corporate staff underneath you to get things accomplished. You are comfortable making decisions with incomplete information, establishing priorities, and being accountable for the outcome. You understand that growing companies require both strategy and execution. You're willing to build a spreadsheet, call a vendor, review an order, interview an employee, analyze a P&L, or redesign an entire process depending on what the business needs that day. Most importantly, you know how to create an organization that can operate effectively without every decision having to go through the owner. Compensation $110,000-$130,000 per year, depending on experience and demonstrated ability. Additional performance-based compensation may be available based on company and individual performance. This position does not currently include traditional employer-sponsored benefits such as health insurance or a 401(k), and the compensation range has been structured accordingly. Why Join Us? This is an opportunity to take a major leadership role in a growing company operating in a specialized national market. You will have significant authority to improve how the company operates, build the team, implement systems, and directly influence the company's growth. For the right person, this isn't simply an operations job. It is an opportunity to become the owner's right hand and play a major role in building the next stage of the company.
