Job Description

This position is open until filled- looking to fill no later than October 1st, 2025.
PRIMARY TASK
Direct and manage the daily operations of the Office of the Grays Harbor County Treasurer to ensure effective and efficient operation in accordance with State statutes and local directives. The Chief Deputy has the full responsibility and authority to serve in the absence of the Treasurer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervise the staff to provide effective and efficient office operations: Ensure the staff is adequately trained in all areas of office operation: Maintain and balance accounting records for all funds under the jurisdiction of the County Treasurer. Assist the Treasurer in the continuing review of office efficiency and governmental operations: Assist the Treasurer in the preparation of operational and budgetary reviews: Assist other office positions in the completion of seasonal property tax processing.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate Degree in accounting, business or related field, or four years equivalent bookkeeping or governmental accounting experience. Two years experience in a supervisory capacity. The ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Competent in computer applications utilizing word processing, spreadsheet and database software. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the Washington State BARS accounting system. The ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees, and with other departments, agencies and the general public. The individual filling this position must be bondable.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is primarily performed in an office environment, with varying degrees of noise and temperament of people. Physical requirements include, sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, a sense of touch, finger dexterity, ability to grip with hands and fingers, ability to hear voice conversation, ability to speak and the ability to read existing records in their original and stored formats. Occasionally, there is a need to lift up to 20 pounds.
