Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Short Term Case Manager to support disaster recovery efforts in La Porte, IN. This contract opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys helping people, organizing detailed documentation, and guiding applicants through important recovery assistance processes. In this role, you will work closely with individuals, communities, businesses, organizations, project leadership, and disaster recovery team members to help ensure recovery files are accurate, complete, and properly documented. Key Responsibilities
- Review applicant information and supporting documentation to help determine eligibility for disaster relief and recovery assistance.
- Communicate with applicants to request missing documentation, clarify information, and explain recovery process requirements.
- Organize, upload, track, and maintain applicant files, project documentation, case notes, status reports, and reimbursement records.
- Review invoices, contracts, payroll records, procurement documents, insurance information, photographs, proof of payment, and other supporting records.
- Track requests for information, project milestones, deadlines, eligibility concerns, and outstanding documentation.
- Escalate complex eligibility, compliance, or documentation issues to senior program staff while providing timely and empathetic applicant support. Compensation and Benefits
- Pay rate: $25 to $26 per hour.

La Porte, IN.- Work arrangement: Ability to work onsite as needed with applicants and disaster recovery team members. Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage assigned applicant cases and disaster recovery project files throughout the recovery process.
- Review, organize, and reconcile disaster-related documentation for eligibility, costs, damages, repairs, and reimbursement.
- Communicate directly with applicants, project leadership, government representatives, and recovery team members.
- Maintain accurate records in grant, recovery, case management, and project tracking systems.
- 1+ year of experience in disaster recovery, emergency management, grants management, government programs, construction administration, finance, case management, customer service, or a related field preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams skills.
- Ability to review documentation such as invoices, contracts, payroll records, procurement records, financial documents, and insurance information.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple applicants, projects, deadlines, and documentation requests simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow established guidelines and make accurate documentation-based determinations.
- Strong problem-solving, follow-up, and time management skills.
- Professional and compassionate communication style when working with people experiencing difficult circumstances.
- Ability to work effectively with applicants, project leadership, government representatives, and disaster recovery team members. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with disaster relief programs, government assistance programs, grants, or recovery programs.
- Background in grants administration, public assistance, emergency management, insurance, finance, construction administration, or government program support.
- Experience with reimbursement documentation, project closeout, compliance review, or recovery funding processes.
- Familiarity with grant management, recovery, case management, or project management systems.
