Job Description

Contracts Specialist - Life Sciences Procurement Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree. 2+ years of contract drafting and negotiation experience within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CRO, or life sciences procurement environment. Working knowledge of common commercial and legal contract provisions, including: Intellectual property Confidentiality Indemnification Limitation of liability Payment terms Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of concurrent agreements with accuracy and strong attention to detail. Experience working within established contract templates, playbooks, and approval frameworks. Experience using a contract lifecycle management (CLM) system. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience negotiating directly with external suppliers. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Preferred Qualifications Experience contracting for outsourced research services, including preclinical CROs, discovery biology, chemistry services, or similar scientific services. Degree or background in Biology or a related scientific discipline. Scientific literacy sufficient to understand the scope, deliverables, and technical terminology of discovery research services, including: In vitro studies In vivo studies Assay development Chemistry services Ability to translate scientific and technical requirements accurately into contract language. Experience with software and SaaS agreements, including data platform agreements used in research environments. Experience with SAP Ariba or a comparable procurement system. Comfortable using AI-enabled tools to support contract drafting and review. Work Environment Remote position with light office-based duties as needed. No travel expected. Scope of Work Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize assigned agreements for outsourced discovery science services.
Support agreements including:
Confidentiality agreements Work orders Amendments Software and SaaS agreements supporting research activities Negotiate directly with third-party suppliers to advance and finalize assigned agreements using established templates, fallback positions, and playbooks. Manage a high volume of concurrent contracting assignments while meeting agreed timelines and adjusting priorities as directed. Identify non-standard terms, risks, or issues that fall outside established playbook positions. Escalate exceptions to contracting leadership with a clear summary of the issue and proposed options. Use the contract lifecycle management system for: Intake Drafting Version control Status tracking Recordkeeping Ensure contract records remain accurate and current. Create purchase requisitions in SAP Ariba or a comparable procurement platform for executed agreements as assigned. Provide regular status updates on assigned agreements to contracting leadership. Out of Scope Direct engagement with internal business partners, scientific teams, or project management teams regarding contracting intake or requirements. Direct escalation to Legal or other internal subject matter experts; escalations should be routed through contracting leadership. Procure-to-pay activities beyond purchase requisition creation, including invoice reconciliation.
